Wednesday's three stars: Kid's stuff for Pens in Game 3
Published 5/29/2008 at Puck Daddy
No. 1 star: Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins Crosby was more opportunistic than creative Wednesday, but the Penguins were desperate for goals of any kind and the bottom line was Pittsburgh's captain was in the right place at the right time and didn't miss with the puck on his stick in key situations. An unforced giveaway led to Pittsburgh's first goal as Crosby scooped up a loose puck and left a drop pass for linemate Marian Hossa. Hossa's shot hit a skate, but deflected right to Crosby who beat Chris Osgood between the pads for the Pens' first goal of the series. ...

Stanley Cup Final Game 3
Published 5/29/2008 by Scotty Hockey (noreply@blogger.com) at Scotty Hockey
Disclaimer: I had to tape the game so I avoided all score updates until I could watch the game. I watched intently until Cindy scored to make it 2-0 and then pretty much fast-forwarded through the rest of the game. At that point you knew instantly that the Penguins weren't going to lose at that point and they didn't. As I picked the Wings in five, I figured Pittsburgh would win one but I would rather it come in a closely-contested game rather than a gimmie. The Wings dominated the first period and came out of it down 1-0. Then they were immediately put back on their heels with a ...

Published 7/22/2008 at FanHouse
Filed under: Capitals, NHL Media Watch, NHL VideosWhen I first read the news that Hockey Night in Canada had decided to add Mike Milbury to its on-air lineup, I have to admit that the announcement gave me a bit of pause. As I outlined this past season at The Sporting News, I wasn't exactly a fan of Milbury's work at NBC, and the thought of him joining the sport's flagship program on the CBC didn't exactly strike me as a gamebreaker. Then again, after thinking about it a little more, I'm going to reserve judgment, and wait to see just how Milbury performs as ...
