Brandon Fields Punt Sticks the Landing in Heinz Field Turf
Published 11/27/2007 at FanIQ Blog
This is how bad it was at Heinz Field tonight. The ball didn't even budge. It was almost so bad that the Patriots would have only scored 35 points. In fact, I bet Tom Brady could have fixed the field all by himself.
Punters: Please replace all divots.
Dear Heinz Field, please stop scheduling every game under the sun in the state of Pennsylvania for your field.
Steelers-Dolphins: Worst Field Conditions Ever
Published 11/27/2007 by Michael David Smith at FanHouse
Filed under: Dolphins, Steelers, Miami, PittsburghThe turf at Heinz Field for last night's Dolphins-Steelers game was most certainly not fit for a professional football game, and nothing illustrates that better than this clip of a punt hitting the ground ... and stopping: I have never in my life seen a punted football fail to bounce or roll. You can bet your bottom dollar that Heinz Field will have artificial turf in 2008. Video via Awful Announcing. Permalink | Email ...
THE NICKELODEON: PLEASE REPAIR ALL BALL MARKS

In case you missed last night's mudfest between the Stillers and the 'Phins (and man we really hope you did), it was a joke of a game played in conditions not suited for humans. The "highlight" of the game (other than the thrilling late field goal to win it) would be when the Dolphins punter planted a ball in the turf ala Tiger Woods. Great weather for ducks ... after the jump. As an aside, I wonder if they are going to have to replace the field again and how much that's going to set the Steelers ...
More on Coach Fran's departure

Truth: Coach Fran would still have a job had the insider e-mail thing never seen the light of day. **** Baylor looking in-state for coaching replacement. **** Houston Nutt stays in the SEC. **** Stars win sixth straight. **** Any interest in RangerLand for Mark Prior. He can probably be had on the cheap. **** Blogger sports map.
Swallowed by the Earth

The one indelible image from last night, other than me pulling my hair out one follicle at a time was this Miami punt that deposited itself meteor-like in the Heinz Field sludge. I imagine the grass had the consistency of mashed potatoes, only a little too watered down. Yeah, Thanksgiving was last week and I still want mashed potatoes.
What do almost 4 quarters of Monday Night Football and my birthday have in common?

No scoring. If you were lucky enough to watch Jeff Reed nail the FG to give P'Burgh the 3-0 win over the Fins, they you really aren't that lucky. The only reason I sat through that ish was that I was holding a meager 7 point lead in my head-to-head in fantasy, with my opponent holding Willie Parker. I lost by 2 points of course. And the Giants got smoked. Happy birthday, Great White Hype. Anyone catch P Daniel Sepulveda stick that sand wedge last night? It's all cause they swtiched to the Pro-V 1 ...

What now about the Vikings?

On little note before I get on to this weeks NFL review. Long time center of the Minnesota Wes Walz retired recently , and I feel.... indifferent. I just wanted to mention it because he's been such a key figure for the squad since their inception. I mean, his skills were waning and he wasn't contributing as he or the team would like, and this IS Minnesota and he is a hockey player, so I don't anticipate losing him all together. I expect we'll still get a heapin' helpin' of Walzy for several years, retired or not. So I'm indifferent. So anyways, it's time for a good old fashioned review of the NFL week that was. Let's ...

Steelers elect to keep mud playing surface

I like grass. It is soft and pretty. When I played two-on-two tackle football as
a child, grass was almost always our playing surface of choice, and I wholeheartedly agreed with

A Tale of Two Turfs
Published 2/12/2008 by Dave at Dave's Football Blog
Following the African Cup of Nations, FIFA boss Sepp Blatter started to push the idea of installing artificial turf throughout Africa, including at the 2010 World Cup — an announcement which made many a football fan wonder, “Gee, I wonder which of his relatives bought stock in Tarkett Inc.” Said Blatter:
“I’ve followed with a lot of interest most of the matches of this competition, and I have to say that African football is at a very high level. What I’ve not not liked so much is the turf, especially in Accra - the grass is too high. ...
