Somewhere in the midst of the Toronto Blue Jays going scoreless in 18 consecutive innings today, Steve Hulkower’s favrit secnd basmn Asdrubal Cabrera became a part of baseball history….
Before this, Asdrubal Cabrera of the Cleveland American League franchise was best known for his excellent play in last year’s postseason and for wearing a pearl necklace during games.

Unassisted Triple Play Turned by Indians' Asdrubal Cabrera

Before tonight only 13 unassisted triple plays had ever been recorded. The Indians' Asdurbal Cabrera turned in the 14th tonight during Game 2 of the Cleveland-Toronto day-night doubleheader.
Like most unassisted triple plays, they lack the dramatic effect - usually a diving catch near a base and a sequence of very quick tags and it's over. That said, it's only happened 14 times in the history of baseball. It's exciting enough.
