Auburn Tigers Assistant Coach Heard by ESPN Cameras Calling Arkansas Motherf*ckers
Published 10/15/2007 at SPORTSbyBROOKS
ESPN KNOWS AUBURN ASSISTANT SWEARS BY HIS DEFENSE: Funny how during low-scoring snooze-fests, the lack of passion on the field can be made up for by the staff off it. First, the Zooker shoves a cameraman after the Illini's 10-6 loss to Iowa. Now, we find an Auburn coach selecting some choice in-game words when talking about the opposition: (Above video features NSFW language) While televising Auburn's 9-7 triumph over Alabama, ESPN microphones caught Tigers defensive coordinator Will Muschamp giving his tough troops some uncensored encouragement. Auburn had just made another stand against QB Casey Dick and the lackluster Razorback offense. (The play included ...

Sunday Afternoon Quarterback
Published 10/21/2007 by David Williams at Bleacher Report
Sunday Afternoon Quarterback This weekend I traveled to the Bluegrass State in Lexington, Kentucky to see one of college football’s surprise teams of the season: the Kentucky Wildcats. While Kentucky is generally known as a basketball school, this year the school has endured and embarrassment of riches as Kentucky has finally developed a more than formidable football program in addition its historic basketball program, among other strong athletic teams. Not only were the Wildcats ranked in the Top 10 in the country heading into this game but they had a fighting chance at winning the SEC, led by Heisman candidate quarterback in Andre’ ...

Thursday Evening Update
Published 11/30/2007 by Scott at Georgia Tech Sports
Just got back from a business trip to Monterrey Mexico. It's pretty hard to keep up with things when you are out from the crack of dawn until later in the night at dinners, etc - and you're in Mexico. Unfortunately I missed the GT / Indiana hoops game, but I did record it and will watch it this weekend. In the meantime, let's do an update on some coaching rumors. By the way, you watch the D-Rad press conference ...

SOOOOOOWEEEEEE BOOOOOOM MOTHERSCRATCHER!
Published 12/11/2007 by Orson Swindle at EDSBS
Boom, motherfucker! The creeping rumor is Will Muschamp, the defensive coordinator at Auburn, acolyte of Nick Saban, and occasional affront to FCC broadcasting standards, will be the next football coach at Arkansas. This is still in the realm of creeping rumor, of course, but it’s an odd hire for one reason: having just gotten rid of a spastic, yeah-rah offensive guy, Arkansas will have gone out and grabbed a spastic, yeah-rah defensive guy. Admittedly, this is a very, very good yeah-rah guy, and it seems less of a conscious decision to hire one guy in particular than an commitment to hiring the person ...

The New Razorbacks Coach?
Published 12/11/2007 by Chris at Intentional Foul
Has Arkansas finally found their new football coach?  With Houston Nutt leaving for Ole Miss, the fact Arkansas hadn’t filled this spot was surprising.  Thanks to EDSBS, we now have word the Razorbacks may be closing in on hiring a new head football coach.  The name being tossed around is Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, who has a fiery presence on the sideline. When the Razorbacks first started their search, they went right after Muschamp’s boss, Tommy Tuberville, which he used to secure a new deal from Auburn, much like Tommy Bowden and Jim Grobe did when they learned they were potential targets.   These ...

DeepSouthSports' Best of 2007
Published 1/4/2008 by Erik at deepsouthsports.net
My thoughts and various other sundries...Why does everybody insist on putting out their "Best of '07" lists before the years even done? Here at DeepSouthSports.net, we do things the right way, or we don't do them at all. Usually, it's the later. None the less, on the last day of the 2007 College Football season, I have to say, It was been a great year to be a fan. So much to enjoy, so much pain shared by all...and therefore so much to make fun of. If only 2008 can capture some of the same magic. ...

Morning Coffee Is Better Late Than Never

Hi Def Hoops. Ticketless for Texas' Big Monday showdown with Texas A&M? Consider heading to one of the dozen movie theaters statewide which will be broadcasting the game - commercial free! - in high definition. Even as someone who's generally annoyed by the over-ESPNization of sports, I think this is terrific. Get a group together, slip a flask in your boot, and go be social while watching the game. If anyone goes to one of these theaters, give us a report on Tuesday. "Yaw yaw yaw! Ooglety booglety!" The Aggies have their (newest) replacement for Gary Arnell and it’s another 4-2-5 ...

EDSBS OSCARS
Published 2/25/2008 by Holly at EDSBS
While the iron was still lukewarm, we elected to award our own college football Oscars, enlisting Holly for the local assist from a Hollywood type. Sadly, not even Dan Hawkins’ bowl cut could challenge the haircut of Anton Chigurh, but there’s much to laud and statuettes to hand out. Holly’s Picks, Ensured by Price, Waterhouse, and Cooper. Performance by an actor in a leading role Bobby Petrino, in “Trust Me.” Performance by an actor in a supporting role Trooper Taylor, in “Baby Come Back.” Performance by an actress in a leading ...
