Quick notes on the weekend that was: MLS: Crew, Fire, Rapids win. Beckham knocks in two great ones -- check the video. USL: Carolina, Miami have a chance to move into second tonight, though the USLLive commentators are telling viewers not to save this one to DVD. No joga bonito here. Player of the Week picks
The Netminder —
I'm working on a note for Wednesday on referee transparency, so it seems only fair to be transparent here and discuss my Player of the Week vote. This week, I've picked Christian Gomez first and Brad Guzan second. Gomez inspired Colorado's offense to a 2-0 win over his old teammates at D.C. United. Guzan, under the microscope for some subpar showings since his transfer to the EPL fell through, kept his goal clean in a 0-0 tie with West rival Houston. David Beckham (two goals, both under consideration for Goal of the Week) and Jon Busch (another shutout for Chicago) were also in the running.

A Pair of Golden Balls from Beckham —
Unprofessional Foul
Just to piss Lingering Bursitis, our resident "Beckham is a wanker" guy, here is a video of the former England captain and current LA Galaxy captain bagging a pair of scores against Real Salt Lake this weekend. The first was virtually a set piece and the second was a set piece where a terribly out of position keeper gave up the goal.

There's only one David Beckham (And really, who could afford two?)
The star of stars showed why there's more to him than tattoos and great crosses. Beckham erased a 2-0 Galaxy deficit with a pair of long-range bombs, including one of his trademark free kicks, to save the Galaxy a point from a 2-2 tie against Real Salt Lake.

WVHooligan - Soccer Blog
A weekend that saw fewer goals but enough drama to keep us interested is over. Week six is in the books and a few things remain as they were at the start of the weekend. The eastern conference is still very close at the top, while the western side is starting to heat up.
Only 14 goals in week number six. Down almost half from the previous couple of weeks here in Major League Soccer. First ...

Real Salt Lake vs Los Angeles Galaxy Highlights MLS Highlights —
Soccer Slave
David Beckham scored a brace to give the Los Angeles Galaxy a 2-2 tie against Western Conference foe Real Salt Lake at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday evening. This was the first instant when he scored two goals in one match in MLS. LA Galaxy almost won the game when Beckham sailed a long cross to an open Donovan in the 73′ and Donovan completely misfired it.
