Ben Q. Rock +2Bummer for us, but the better team won in the end. Can't pin the loss solely on the officials.-
MrThell Yeah, this game was not decided on that gaffe.

Billups, Pistons use some game-clock karma

Odenized video clip on YouTube | Download The referees incorrectly dealt with one of the season's oddest scoreboard muffs, but can you blame them? Should instant replay be allowed in these situations?

Ahh, the playoffs are in the air and we already have postseason “controversy” running amok.
Was Chauncey’s 3-pointer with 4.8 seconds left in the 3rd in time? Eventually it was deemed no, but unofficially. Considering the officials on the court can’t use instant replay for time-related issues, Chauncey was awared the 3-ball and the Pistons took a 78-76 lead going into the 4th.

Steve Javie, Derrick Stafford, Joe Forte: Sometimes the zebras get it right, sometimes they get it wrong. Very wrong. Such was the case last night in Detroit, when the game clock "froze" long enough for Chauncey Billups to beat the third quarter buzzer with momentum-changing three-pointer. Here's the official description from the Orlando Sentinal: "The Pistons took the ball out of bounds with 5.1 seconds left, but the clock stopped at 4.8 and again at 4.1 before Billups made the three-point shot. The Magic bench erupted in protest, and officials huddled while TNT replays showed it took 5.22 ...

NBA -- The Spurs find themselves down 2-0 in a playoff series for the first time since 2001 as the Hornets blew past them in the second half of Game 2, a quick 10-0 run helping to expand a 1-point halftime deficit to a 102-84 win. Chris Paul and Peja Stojakovic led the way with 30 and 25 points respectively. Tony Parker was emasculated by someone other than his wife for once, as he was limited to 11 points and blocked twice by Tyson Chandler. Things got momentarily heated when David West clapped in Fabricio Oberto's face after the big man got called on a reach-in. Argentines just don't understand our boisterous ways. The Pistons ...

Paging Stephen Hawking : Orlando Undone By Detroit’s Suspension Of Time

You’ll excuse Stan Van Gundy if he believes the Magic oughta be tied at 1-1 with Detroit. Yahoo Sports’s Dan Wetzel can barely believe the trio of Steve Javie, Derrick Stafford and Joe Forte ” guesstimated because NBA rules prohibited them from consulting anything from the television to a sundial.”
The league is so sensitive to the idea of the stereotypically biased hometown clock operator that during the playoffs it flies in neutral officials (in this case Minnesota) to run the thing. The NBA thinks of everything. But it never thought to equip its refs ...
