Billy Gillispie has the runs
SmackCaster SmackBlog —
Check out the final indignity for outgoing Kentucky hoops coach Billy Gillispie. He doesn’t stop for reporters and winds up being chased and hounded and looking more foolish than he should feel after losing the gig following two seasons. Click here for the chase and disgrace ...
Get Away From Me, Alan Cutler [Billy Gillispie]
Deadspin —
There are still reverberations from yesterday's Billy Gillispie firing, but there's nothing more telling about the misguided lunacy that is UK basketball than watching a television reporter chase Gillispie through the Joe Craft center. The reporter in the video is WLEX 18's Alan Cutler, who, for whatever reason, felt that getting the former Kentucky head coach on the record immediately after he was canned was crucial and worthy of stalkerazzi-style reporting techniques. It's hilarious watching Gilliispie do the cellphone-to-the-ear trick ( a known TMZ repellent) in an attempt to ward off the two or ...
The Search Is On
Sports Bastards —
Well, that's another coach run out of town. We took too long to fire Tubby, and I have to say I think they fired Billy Clyde Gillispie a little too quickly. Yeah, I've heard all the rumors that his drinking was heavier than anyone realized, and that he liked to chase the co-eds a little too much, but I think everyone knew that about him at Texas A&M;, too. The problem with Billy is that A) he was too stubborn to adapt his system to fit the personnel he had, B) he played Michael Porter 30 minutes a game when Michael Porter is completely awful instead of taking his lumps with DeAndre Liggins, C) he never signed ...
HAHAHAHAHAHA
The Brew Town Beat —
OK, on the one hand I can understand Gillispie avoiding the reporters, on the other I realize why that reporter was sent to try and get the exclusive with Gillispie, but this is just priceless. I love how he "takes a phone call" during the whole incident. Just priceless, and is it just me or does this not seem like a skit you'd see on SNL?
Run, Billy, Run!
The Hog Tale —
This video is all over the place including one of my favorite blogs - Your Mother Slept With Wilt Chamberlain, but I had to post it here in case you haven't seen it yet. It's Billy Gillispie with the Kentucky paparazzi in tow. I love how Billy is "on the phone" pretend-talking to his pretend friend. My guess is that phone wasn't even powered on. Then, the jogging scene was great with the reporter, who looks like ESPN's poker expert Norman Chad, asking Billy if he was really going to run away from him and then saying that he could run with him all day. ...
Wonder if the Memphis Media Chases John Calipari?
The Big Lead —
In case you missed it over the weekend, Billy Gillispie was forced to outrun a pesky camera crew on his last day as Kentucky head coach. Poor guy. Will the Memphis media give John Calipari the same treatment now that it seems he’s ditched the Tigers for the Wildcats?
Starting with Andy Katz’s early morning report, and continuing with the Commercial Appeal’s story about Cal meeting with his players, all signs point to Lexington finding their man. (Is Kentucky really the “Notre Dame of basketball?” as Cal reportedly told his players? Not a ...

Calipari Kentucky's new 'spokesman'
The Checkdown —
It's been an unavoidable story all week - John Calipari leaves Memphis for Kentucky. An 8-year, $31.65 million dollar deal was enough to lure the top college coach to Lexington. Replacing the recently-canned Billy Gillispie, Calipari gets a chance to helm a legendary program, something he calls "a dream." ...
Billy Gillispie Was Kind Of A Jerk
Intentional Foul —
Perhaps Alan Cutler was trying to run Billy Gillispie out of town. Considering the amount of behind-the-scenes “If this is true, he’s worse than anyone thought” news that’s come out since Gillispie made way for John Calipari, I can understand if that’s what Cutler was ultimately doing. Now we have news about some Nike t-shirts, which support the rumors about Gillispie not liking his star player, Jodie Meeks.
First, a recap of the how their relationship may or may not have ended:
[Gillispie] told Jodie Meeks in a number ...
