Speed Read: A-Rod Done With US, Now Dominican
SPORTSbyBROOKS —
You know, I was just thinking recently that Alex Rodriguez needs to do some more to endear himself to the rest of the country the way he has with the people of New York. It seems now that, in addition to not being a True Yankee, A-Rod is also not a True American as he’s allegedly decided to play for the Dominican Republic in March’s World Baseball Classic. He played for the U.S. in the 2006 WBC, but perhaps thinks that jumping ship might be the only way he sees a title of any kind in his career.
(Flipping countries. Rooting for Duke. Seriously, what’s not to like about A-Rod?)
None of this is a ...
USC's Leonard Washington Ejected for Hitting Oklahoma's Blake Griffin in the Groin
FanHouse —
by Michael David Smith Filed under: Oklahoma, USC, NCAA Basketball VideoLeonard Washington of USC committed the dirtiest play of the season so far when he ran down court in the second half of last night's game and hit Oklahoma's Blake Griffin square in the family jewels: Washington, justifiably, was ejected, and he ought to be suspended. Cheap shots don't get much cheaper than hitting someone in the man region. Amazingly, Washington claimed afterward that he hadn't done what we could all see him do. USC's Leonard Washington Ejected for ...
Leonard Washington goes Chris Paul on Blake Griffin
Brahsome - Care To Get Nice? —
In last night’s Oklahoma-USC hardwood matchup, the Trojans’ Leonard Washington took a cheap shot to Blake Griffin’s little guys. It was reminiscent of Chris Paul trying to take down my man Julius Hodge a few years ago. Washington better watch out, because karma’s a bitch . Name (required) Mail (hidden) (required) Website
USC's Leonard Washington has a habit of hurting people
The Dagger —
As you've surely seen by now, USC freshman Leonard Washington was
ejected from USC's 73-72 loss to Oklahoma last night after doing a
totally normal, reasonable thing: Punching Blake Griffin violently in
his man-parts. For the uninitiated, some video:
Nice. "Punching people in the balls" being strictly disallowed by both
NCAA basketball rules and every iteration of man-code on the universe
(man-code, brah!), Washington was immediately sent to the locker room,
where he took responsibility for his actions and was properly
admonished by his coach. Haha. Just kidding!

Ballin’: USC’s Cheap Shot on Blake Griffin
The Big Lead —
A reader got this terrific screen grab of a shady character at the Mavericks game in the front row wearing gold shoes. Do not be confused by the mixture of college and NBA games below.
Phoenix 97, Dallas 112: The return of Nash and Shaq wasn’t enough to prevent the Suns from dropping their fourth in a row. Dirk tied his season-best scoring effort with 39. Despite a slow start, the Mavs have won eight of nine games.
San Antonio 108, Denver 91: That’s an odd result - the Spurs come off a home loss to Detroit, go on the road and beat one of the hottest teams in the league? Weird. Just ...
Blake Griffin Had A Busy Night
Intentional Foul —
Blake Griffin, the heir to the throne of Hansbrough, is off to an incredible start this season. Currently, he’s averaging 25.6 points and an incredible 17.3 rebounds a game. Clearly, if he keeps this pace up, he’ll be an absolute shoe-in for the Player of Year award when this season comes to a close. The way things are looking, he’ll also be one of the top two picks taken in next year’s NBA Draft, provided he decides to come out.
Although, I think I’d take Griffin over Ricky Rubio, but apparently, that’s just me. Anyway, Griffin had another huge night last night that featured an awesome alley-oop dunk and an ...
“If they go to the monitor, you can say goodbye to Leonard Washington”
Randball —
“That is about as dirty, nasty, awful thing …” we agree. Check out USC’s Leonard Washington taking a shot at Oklahoma’s Blake Griffin last night. Makes you hurt just looking at it. And yes, they did go to the monitor. And yes, Washington did get the ejection he richly deserved. Somewhere, Flozell Adams cracks a smile of redemption ...
Leonard Washington Doesn’t Get Butt Naked For Nobody…
Can't Stop The Bleeding —
…nor does he take kindly to his Trojans repeatedly being shown up by OU’s Blake Griffin. Given the Sooners’ slim margin of victory over USC last night, Washington just leapfrogged Sean Avery and Stephon Marbury in the leaving-your-teammates-in-the-lurch sweepstakes.
Leonard Washington Channels His Inner Reggie Evans
SportsHubLA —
Say what you will about missed opportunities in USC’s 73-72 loss in Norman Thursday night to the Oklahoma Sooners , at least they went down swinging- zing!- in the form of freshman forward Leonard Washington taking liberties with the junk of OU star Blake Griffin. Apparently, still against the rules. Who knew? Of course, this incident is just one in a long line of incidents in LA hoops involving the latter half of the “good touch/bad touch” universe. Discuss:

What's up with all the elbowing this season?
The Dagger —
Elbowing is the new black. It seems like more than ever this college basketball season, players are throwing dirty-looking elbows at their opponents, leading to more technical fouls and ejections than I can ever remember for such offenses. Yesterday, Florida State's Solomon Alabi was tossed after throwing a 'bow at the throat of Wake Forest's Chas McFarland. In the Kansas-Kansas State game, Wildcat guard Denis Clemente was whistled for a technical after he did the same to KU's Brady Morningstar. (That foul was the catalyst for an 8-0 Kansas run that ended up putting the game out of reach for Clemente's squad.) Michigan's Manny Harris was ...
