The sound you're hearing is Michael Jackson rolling over in his hyperbarric chamber
Published 2/18/2008 by Tao of Stieb at The Tao of Stieb
As found by All Your Base are Belong to Rios, here's a video from the wayback machine, featuring a 1980's wacky weather dude from City TV, lots of mustaches, and some of the most cringe-inducingly bad athlete acting this side of Wayne "Agent 99" Gretzky's one-off stint on the Young and the Restless. You had to know that the one guy who would take this video shoot super-seriously was Buck Martinez. If that dude had an ironic bone in his body, then Gorman Thomas must have broke it good. Also, there isn't a day that goes by that we don't miss Cliff Johnson.

1984 IS GONNA BE THE BLUE JAYS' YEAR
Published 2/21/2008 at With Leather - Sports news and gossip to brighten this short, dark life
You have to admit, 1984 was pretty sweet.  Michael Jackson was black, we kicked ass at the LA Olympics because the bitch-ass commies stayed home, Reagan was still kinda lucid when he beat the hell out of Mondale, and I rocked the block with my Return of the Jedi t-shirt.  It had speeder bikes on it. Most importantly, if the zeitgeist of 1984 had a face, that face had a mustache.  Much like everyone on the Blue Jays. [Hot Clicks]

Vintage YouTube: MJ's Thriller and the 1984 Toronto Blue Jays
Published 2/21/2008 at Big League Stew
I'm not sure what I like most about this video: Alfredo Griffin's dancing, the fact the reporter looks a little like Booger from "Revenge of the Nerds" or the wide array of the most porntastic mustaches 1984 had to offer. It also features an always cooperative Rick Dempsey, which makes me even prouder to own his 1983 World Series MVP crouching catcher bobblehead.  For those of you wondering how that season ended up, Jacko was able to give the team a little boost, but not one that was big enough to catch Detroit. The '84 Blue Jays went 89-73, finishing ...

Blue Jays Baseball -- Catch the Thrill!

Filed under: Blue Jays, AL East, MLB Video, Toronto But don't take my word for it. Just view this old Toronto Blue Jays feature that is not only the most complimentary piece of television journalism ever produced, but also the most unintentionally hilarious. Enjoy. It wouldn’t be 1984 without bushy hair and mustaches

SI’s Extra Mustard has a nice find: this spring training video from the Toronto Blue Jays in 1984, set to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” There is so much comedy in here. We don’t want to ruin it. But please do watch:

The internets love mustaches, the 1984 Blue Jays
Published 2/21/2008 by Tao of Stieb at The Tao of Stieb
That goofy 1984 Blue Jays/Michael Jackson mustache extravaganza that we posted earlier this week? It's blowed up real good today. A mention in SI.com's Extra Mustard this morning has set off a bit of a slow burning fire of interest, including some of the sports blogosphere's heavy hitters. See below for a rundown of the bloggers who obviously can enjoy awkward acting and prominent facial hair as much as we do...even if they'll never understand how much Cliff Johnson means to us. 1984 Is Going to Be The Blue Jays' Year - With Leather Blue Jays Baseball -- Catch the Thrill! - ...

Non Roster Invitee: Hector Luna

We turn our focus to our friends north of the border and the Toronto Blue Jays. The Blue Jays appear to be set roster wise and it’s unlikely that any of their non roster invitees would make the team out of Spring Training. Perhaps the player most likely to make a contribution to the team this season is infielder Hector Luna. Luna was picked up last summer on waivers from the Cleveland ...
