Bobby Knight Resigns: Remembering His All-Time Best Clips & Soundbites
Published 2/5/2008 at FanIQ Blog
Shocking, and very sad news that Bobby Knight has abruptly resigned as head coach of Texas Tech tonight. One of my favorite coaches in any sport, all-time, and based on my personal experience with him you might not think that'd be the case.
Back in 1993, a really short, not so quick kid with huge afro that relied solely on a deadly jump shot attended Bobby Knight's basketball camp. The General didn't do a whole lot of coaching during the week, other than a daily speech that you went about how you'd imagine. Occasionally though, he'd wander around watching the scrimmages ...

You're With Me, Sweater

Is there anything better than ESPN signing Bob Knight to be part of their NCAA tournament coverage ? No, no there isn't. You might remember that ESPN is where Coach Knight went for his one interview after getting fired from Indiana. It didn't go to well, as he wound up getting into a pissing match with interviewer Jeremy Schaap and storming off the set. There's really no end to the things that ESPN could have Coach Knight do. For example, have him replace Erin Andrews courtside during interviews for conference tournament week and have him demand to get felt up by Bruce Pearl . Or, put him on the other side of those NCAA ...
Bobby Knight and Those Rabbits
Published 9/15/2008 at ESPN.com - True Hoop - Blog
Lately I have talked to several people about some of the greatest sportswriting of all time. There are so many great articles out there. One of them that I just read for the first time is Frand Deford's 1981 Sports Illustrated profile of then University of Indiana coach Bobby Knight. The theme of the story comes from something Knight implores his players to do: To stay focused on hunting "the elephants" -- the big issues -- and not to get distracted hunting "the rabbits." Of course, as we then learn from the article, Knight is quite a rabbit hunter himself. This passage begins with what is ...
Bob Knight Says He Might Return To Coaching

Great news for all of you who like college basketball coaches who choke their players and make beyond inappropriate comments comparing a blowout to rape. Bobby Knight says he's interested in returning to college basketball.

Election Night: An Excuse To Stay Up Past 8:30 [Weekly Buzzsaw Countdown]
Published 14 days ago by Will Leitch at Deadspin
Well, it's here. When I was a kid, Election Night was one of the few nights of the year I was allowed to stay up past 8:30. (Seriously, my bedtime was 8:30 until I was a freshman in high school. And you wonder why I still wet the bed.) I never knew who any of the candidates were, or even what the "D" and the "R" next to their names meant — sometimes I'm not sure I know now — but it was like having 100 different sporting events going on at once, with updates coming every 20 minutes. We didn't have cable. This was as close as I had to March Madness. I loved it. Now, of course, I'm superficially more educated ...
