Chase Utley Tells New Yorkers **** You for Booing Him at Home Run Derby
Published 7/15/2008 by Larry Brown at Larry Brown Sports
Classic moment at the Home Run Derby introductions tonight. Chase Utley was the second player introduced by Chris Berman of ESPN, following Dan Uggla. I couldn’t really hear the crowd noise too clearly, but they must have been booing because it produced a pretty clear response from Utley. Let’s go to the video tape: Absolutely priceless. Maybe some guys would come across as jerks for that, but not Utley. Completely fits his persona. Video via The 700 Level where Matt P was all over it, too. ...

Chase Utley Would Like to Raise Your Booing One F-Bomb, New Yorkers
Published 7/15/2008 by Brinson at Brahsome - Care To Get Nice?
Yankees fans = meh. They’re just obnoxious. Kind of like Philly fans. So you would think that if a guy like Chase Utley — a Phil himself — got booed by a bunch of New Yorkers are a freaking Home Run Derby, then he would know how to respond. You would be right. If semi-audible F-bombs are NSFW, then don’t click this video (it’s fine, really). Yeah! I knew there was a reason that Chase Utley was my favorite player. And not just because he is a second baseman. And I was a second baseman. Who made it to the Hall of ...

Tell Us How You Really Feel

Chase Utley, who I was rather disappointed in Monday night, reacts in the video below after being booed at Yankee Stadium (by Mets fans?) during the Home Run Derby, in which he hit only 5 longballs and did not advance to the second round. He later called it "a poor choice of words." Yay live television! ...

Josh Beckett's New BFF
Published 7/15/2008 by Texas Gal at Center Field
I think Josh Beckett just found himself a new baseball boyfriend. Chase Utley earns a gold star not only for dropping the f-bomb on live TV on ESPN, but for dropping it on New York fans. In Yankee Stadium. Thank goodness the ever-crafty Phillies fans jumped ...

Chase Utley, You Are The Man!
Published 7/15/2008 by Dutch's Wormhole (noreply@blogger.com) at Poor Sports: Bitter Philly Sports Fans Sound Off
Chase was in NY last night for the HR Derby and didn't make it out of the first round. The real show was all about Josh Hamilton and whether the announcers could reference his past drug problems more times than Hamilton could hit HRs. Unfortunately for Josh, he lost. He did succeed in breaking Bobby Abreu's record for HRs in a round and total HRs in a derby. Great story. Anyone who follows baseball already knew it and if they continue to shove that down our throat during the game tonight, I might have to kill someone. ...

If You Boo Chase Utley, He'll Boo You Right Back and Add a Little Something
Published 7/16/2008 at FanHouse
Filed under: Phillies, NL East, MLB VideoThere must have been a lot of Met fans at Yankee Stadium last night. When Chase Utley got introduced before the Home Run Derby, he was greeted by a chorus of boos the Bronx usually reserves for Red Sox. He didn't take all that kindly to the reaction. Thanks to The 700 Level for the video which has language that isn't safe for work or the easily offended. Utley apologized after the event but it's hard to see how you could get that bent out of shape about his slip of the ...

A Few Notes an Hour Into the HR Derby

Just got a text from Iceman Eddie camped out in the right field awning at the Stadium: "Chutley hit the ball harder than anyone so far bit unlucky, just jacked over my head". And if I am leading with that, you can imagine I find the first 4 hitters rather unremarkable. However, it does appear that Laverne swallowed Shirley... And Ariel was not impressed with Joe Morgan's choice of duds.
