rickg15 So nobody had a steaming hot caldron of tar or oil cooking on those rooftops? What wasted opportunity... -
RedBaron This kind of thing is understandable--it's been all of 8 months since Boston's last title. -
rmcc4444 as a lifelong boston fan and being from boston and i can assure you this is not a true boston sports fan. hopefully the cops see this and make some arrests. pathetic.-
rickg15 So, you're saying this is an isolated incident? I've never been to Boston, but I can honestly say this seems to fit the stereotype to me....

dvlkitten Oh, puhlease! You guys are slamming all Boston fans because of the actions of a few. This happens with just about anything. There are idiots out there wherever you go. Just look at the riots of 2001 when it was the LA Lakers who won the title. That was major -- fires, cars being totaled, people being seriously hurt -- all in the name of "celebrating a win." I was at the UCLA Medical Center that night and it was horrifying! Don't base all the fans of a sports team off of the stupidity of some. That's like saying all whites are idiots because it was whites who did this. Kind of sounds shallow when it's put that way, huh?

Boston Celtics Fans Riot After Victory
You Been Blinded - Now in Dazzling HD —
There are always two things you can count on following a sports championship. A parade and a riot. Boston held its riot after 4-2 series victory over the Los Angeles Lakers for the NBA championship. If this is how Boston acts after the Celtics win the title it’s a ...
Celtics Win! Let's Break Things!
FanHouse —
Filed under: Celtics, Eastern, NBA Fans, NBA Playoffs, NBA Videos, Boston As you can see above (and in this video here, and this picture here), things got a bit out of hand in Boston following the Celtics' win. I've never understood this "Yay, we won! Let's riot!" mentality, but to be fair, it's hardly unique to Beantown. Even so, whatever happened to acting like you've been there? It was the Celtics' first title in 22 years, but you'd think all those recent Patriots and Red Sox titles would have prepared fans to act a bit more ...

Chauncey Billups withdrew his name for consideration from the Beijing Olympics citing "family reasons." Could this be a move to save face because of the recent talk he wouldn't have made the cut in favor of Chris Paul? Ex-Sportscenter anchor can't remember Chauncey Billups is a Piston. Thanks to T.J. for the link. Congrats to the Celtics for winning it all even if some people are a little upset about their Celebratory actions before and after they won. I have to point it out, but everyone seems to be quick to talk about Detroit and rioting when Championships are won. ...

With Leather - Sports news and gossip, panda sex, and the occasional Toonces the driving cat Photoshop —
Boston shows yet again why it has the greatest fans in America, celebrating the Celtics' NBA championship by throwing street signs through the windows of local businesses. Take note, cities with less passionate fans: if you don't support your team by using municipal property to destroy private property, you may as well just spend the evening at the opera, or whatever things non-passionate sports fans do with their evenings. Things like sex with men, and accepting other races into your community. I will now destroy this large flowerpot in the name of Red ...
YouTube of the Day: Celtics fans celebrate, break windows
Ball Don't Lie —
Hundreds of rowdy Celtics fans poured into the streets outside Da Garden to celebrate Boston's 17th NBA championship last night, and, as you might expect, a few storefront windows took the brunt of the euphoria. All in all, the Boston police department seemed to have pretty good control of the festivities. As of last count, just 30 people have been arrested — most for drunken tomfoolery — and no one has yet died. Thumbs up, Boston! (With Leather, You Been Blinded)

A Final Note on the Celtics
The Hater Nation —
The Celtics thrashed the Lakers and deserved to win the NBA championship. This was a horrible matchup for the Lakers and should have heeded the advice of one of our most loyal readers who said that LA had no chance to win. So let's give Boston it's credit, and here is a highlight video of some of the best fans in the NBA who really know how to party. ...

Boston Celtics Fan Riot
FanIQ Blog —
I lived in Boston for a period of time, so I'm well aware of how nuts (and consistently drunk) the fans are there. Boston is definitely a baseball town, and that will never change, but the fact that the Celtics hadn't won an NBA championship in so long certainly meant it was time to celebrate when they finally reigned supreme again last night.
And we all know there's only one way to celebrate a title: by smashing public signs through windows.
I don't what to say other than that this is classic Boston.
Of course, this isn't even that bad in the grand scheme of ...

Via With Leather comes this lovely video of Boston fans doing what they do best... I guess. Yes, yes, I'm sure you're not all like that. But here's the thing: so many of you are like that. Obnoxious and semi-retarded, that is. What other explanation is there for destroying public and private property because your NBA team won a title? And I don't want to hear any bullsh-t about any of my teams because when the Giants won the Super Bowl, there weren't riots in NYC or NJ. Can you imagine if it had been the big bad NY team who was 18-0 and was upset by a Wild Card Pats team? Holy ...

Well, thank God THAT is over. I can appreciate that the NBA (cough) wanted (cough) this matchup, but, in my opinion, the 2008 NBA Playoffs provided little zip. Unless you count a new-found hatred not seen in these parts since Reggie Miller. Has there been such a pompous ass built overnight as quickly as Paul Pierce? I used to like the guy, always felt for him being stuck on a team going nowhere, did a lot for the team in the community, never really bitched. Now, the team goes out and buys/acquires/is given (cough, hack) superstars to surround his pouty ass and all of a sudden he grabs the ego of Paris Hilton. I kind of laughed, in a good ...

Boston Fans are stupid: Celtics rioting after winning it all [Video]

I’ve been saying it for years but no one believes me. This just continues to prove my point that Boston fans are the most uncivilized of all sports.

So, your team wins a title for the first time in 22 years and how do you celebrate? You throw shit through windows, that's how! There's nothing funnier than a bunch of drunk, shirtless white guys with backwards hats starting a "mini riot" and causing destruction. Hey Sully, let me tell ya, nothing makes you look "hard" like throwing street signs through an unguarded storefront. I for one am shocked at the level of ...

The 2008 NBA Playoff Recap: What We Learned [Nba Season Wrapup]
Deadspin —
The 2008 NBA playoffs did more than just entertain us for the last seven or eight months. It taught us stuff. Some stuff we only suspected, and some other stuff we never even knew before. Here is that stuff. The Atlanta Hawks have fans...real, flesh-and-blood fans. Boston fans, on the other hand, apparently are bandwagon jumpers. The NBA will not tolerate "menacing" hand gestures. Ever. Kevin Garnett never forgets. "Third person" is LeBron James' preferred method of speaking. Basketball and rapper slap-fights can go hand-in-hand. ...
