Ben Q. Rock +5He aims to destroy what he doesn't have.-
Odenized Hahaha! So true.
-
-
RedBaron But he has his hands up! He must be innocent. -
The On Deck Circle I'm just about sick of this guy. When the nicest thing you can say about a player is "well, his mustache doesn't look that stupid" you know he's a dink. -
Odenized I honestly believe Bowen is a good person and model citizen (extensive community service work, ambassador for raising child obesity awareness, the Bruce Bowen Foundation, etc.). It's his on-court play that earns him his death wishes. He probably can't walk anywhere outside of San Antonio without three secruity guards. I love his intensity on the denfensive end - rarely do we see this in players any more - but I can't stand questionable plays like this.-
The On Deck Circle Ahh I was trying to be funny. I have big respect for hard-nosed players and good community guys, too. I'd love someone of his ilk on my team, but we could really do without the cheap stuff - he is a good enough defender without it.
-
-
KellyDwyer It's hard to see, but Paul gets Bowen in the junk before the kick.
Not defending the kick, Bowen deserves a suspension, but Paul got him.
-
Odenized That's interesting...Ziller thought Bowen got Paul's jewels:
-
JaketheSnake I for one, am shocked that Chris Paul would try and hit someone down there.
-
-
And One Love the title. If you get kicked right in the 500th consecutive game, you can incur serious damage.-
Odenized Thought I would throw that twist in there. :-)-
And One Go ahead and throw that twist but, as Irving Gordon once said, don't throw Mama From The Train."

Playoff Positions Virtually Locked
Published 3/13/2008 by redsarmy at RedsArmy.com: The Voice Of Celtics Fans
The C’s have picked up 3 games on the Pistons during this 10 game winning streak of theirs. Which means that right now, they have a 5 1/2 game lead with 19 games to play. Orlando has a 4 1/2 game lead on Cleveland… and I don’t think the Cavs are in a position to make a run to make that up.
So the 1 through 4 seeds are virtually ...
NBA Wrap: Rockets are at 20 and counting, Bruce Bowen? a Dirty player? nooo, Knicks stop losing by beating the NBA’s worst team

Rockets 83 - Hawks 75
The Rockets 20th straight win was one of their ugliest wins of the season, nevertheless it is still a win. The Rockets had one of their worse first half performances of the season in this one scoring only 32 points in the first half.
Tracy McGrady played like a star in the second half, scoring 21 points with 5 of them coming in a key 10-0 run with 5 minutes remaining to give the Rockets the 83-75 win over the Hawks.

Houston 83, Atlanta 75 This was pretty ugly, no alibis to be found, but it was nice to see the Hawks (once a pretty sound defensive team, earlier in the year) pull out their best defensive performance in months. It was also nice to see the Houston Rockets, a team that had every right to pack it in after losing Yao Ming, pull off its eighth-straight win without Yao, and 20th overall. Atlanta's defensive resurgence helped little in the fourth quarter, when Tracy McGrady was taking, and making, bad shots. A pair of crushers: one a fadeaway 17-footer that caught every part of the rim, ...
500th Reminder That Bruce Bowen Is Dirty
Published 3/13/2008 by Marcel Mutoni at SLAM Online
by Marcel Mutoni
For a guy with a very limited skill set, Bruce Bowen has had himself one hell of a career. He’s won titles, and has earned the reputation as one of the better one-on-one defenders in the League. It’s a shame that, years from now, he’ll mostly be remembered as perhaps the dirtiest player of his generation.
Last night, while playing in his 500th career game, Bruce decided to play a little soccer with Chris Paul’s body as CP3 laid on the ground. Click here for the video evidence. The worst part of the whole thing is the “What-I-didn’t-do-anything” look on his face ...

How to Kick a Man When He's Down, Draw the Foul
Published 3/13/2008 at The Sporting Blog
By Chris Mottram Observe as Bruce Bowen teaches us the key to his defense: Kick a superstar while he's on his back, then rely on horrible officiating: Even better (or, I guess, worse) than the kick is Bowen's acting skills. Does he not understand how replay works? Everyone is going to see that you just tried to kick Chris Paul in his man-bits after the play was over. I'd prefer he at least owned up to it with more of a "what now, sucka!?" act than the "what happened?" charade he put on. What's weird is that this was so un-Bowen like. I mean, he's never been known to play dirty and kick other players. Oh, wait, what's that? He does this ...
Bruce Bowen Kicks Chris Paul in the 'Man Region' to Celebrate 500th Consecutive Game

See: Reason 2,783 why I hate the Spurs and you should, too.
Here's the real kicker, Chris Paul was called for a foul on this play. How does this continue to persist? That is, Bruce Bowen continuing to apply cheat shot after cheap shot, and more times than not, draw a foul on the opponent.
It's not so much his persistence on the cheap plays that irritates me, but his 'what, I didn't do anything' reaction. When it's this obvious, just own up to it. Kick him again for good measure while you're at it.

Bruce Bowen isn't afraid to kick a man when he's down
Published 3/13/2008 at Ball Don't Lie
KD linked to this Bowen-CP3 altercation in this morning's epic 'Behind the Boxscore' (which, by the way, is the best NBA recap post currently going on the web), but here it is again in sweet, sweet embeddable form: It's liteally gotten to the point where Bruce Bowen could whip out a gun, shoot you square in the chest, and still throw up his hands with a "what'd I do?" look plastered across his mug. He really is a [profane]'er.
I HATE BRUCE BOWEN
Published 3/13/2008 at With Leather
Year in and year out, the Spurs are the ugliest good team in the NBA, and while a lot of that stems from Tim Duncan's Sampras-like excellence, Manu Ginobili's flopping, and Tony Parker's stupid French face and bitch wife, it would be impossible to understate just how big of a cocksucker Bruce Bowen is. And I don't mean cocksucker in the good way, like he's neat and dresses well. I mean he deserves to be tied with barbed wire to a fence post in the wilds of west Texas in the dead of summer. Looks like it's time to update Bruce Bowen's Dirtiest Hits. We'd have to put this at #2 behind kicking Wally World in the face. And you'll be happy to know the foul was called on Chris Paul. Our suggestion: The Hornets sign Kimbo Slice to a 10-day contract before the next game and have him jack Bowen in the face during tip-off. Any objections? Note: We know the video quality is bad. Wait for the replay. How this isn't an automatic ejection is beyond us.

Watch Chris Paul Fouling Bruce Bowen
Published 3/13/2008 at ESPN.com - True Hoop - Blog
If you read today's bullets, you remember Ron Hitley of Hornets247 complaining about a skirmish between Chris Paul and Bruce Bowen. I just watched it, and you can too. Here's what I saw: One of the gems of the NBA, young Chris Paul -- tiniest of MVP candidates -- heads to the floor to gather up a loose ball. In the ensuing struggle, all kinds of thing happen. But if I'm not mistaken, the most noteworthy of them was not one but two kicks from the foot of Bowen to the upper torso (getting awfully close to the head) of Paul. Bowen meanwhile actually had the nerve to try the old "but referee, my hands are straight up in the ...
Bruce Bowen Doing What He Does

This took place in last night’s game between New Orleans and San Antonio. While not terrible, this just seems to be what Bowen does time and time again. A cheap little nudge or kick and then the “what?! who!? me!?” routine. Just your standy night for Bruce….although Chris Paul does have a little cheap shot karma out there after the shot to Julius Hodge’s baby maker a few years ago.

MASTER BRUCE IS A MASTER DOUCHEBAG
Published 3/14/2008 by BP at I *Heart* Celtics
The NBA's resident cheap shot artist has struck again. Watch him kick Chris Paul in the ribs twice with his hands up in the air. Master Bruce has made his career on being the only guy willing to knee people in the junk, kick people in the back, deliberately break people's ankles, undercut people while they're fully extended, and, of course, kick people in the face. Bruce Bowen is a menace that needs to be suspended whenever he tries to pull these kinds of shenanigans. While the NBA goes friggin' bananas if somebody leaves the bench or throws a ...
Detroit Defeat

Well, I said yesterday on the show that it wasn’t about the final score, it was about looking at the teams and wondering if the Stars had what it took to play the Red Wings straight up. Uh. Not great results again. Yes, a 3-1 lead late in the 2nd Period gave you the distinct impression that the worm had turned. And then, it did. The wrong way. The Red Wings shifted to another gear. And the meltdowns started. A bad turnover. A bad effort from Turco on the opening goal of the 3rd. An inability to stop the bleeding. And another crushed effort in Detroit. The more things change, the more they stay the ...
Bruce Bowen Suspended
Published 3/14/2008 by Austin Burton at Dime
It’s over. For kicking Chris Paul in San Antonio’s loss to the Hornets on Wednesday, Bruce Bowen was suspended for one game by the League. Bowen will miss tonight’s road game against the Pistons, which ends his streak of 500 consecutive games without a DNP. We’ve got two clips of the play: The first is from the Hornets’ broadcast, which is of course titled “Bowen kicks Paul.” The second is from the Spurs broadcast, naturally titled, “Chris Paul punches Bruce Bowen.”
Bruce Bowen Suspended
Published 3/14/2008 by Brett Edwards at FanHouse
Filed under: Pistons, Hornets, SpursFinally, it seems that the league has come to their senses regarding something that the historically dirty Bruce Bowen has done on the court. The NBA has smacked Bowen with a one game suspension for the stomping of the jewels incident that occurred near the end of the Spurs' low-scoring loss to the Hornets. Once again, here's the play that will end Bowen's consecutive games streak at 500.
This points out yet another amazing fact about that streak. With all of Bowen's questionable antics over the years, ...

As the Raptors visit Denver tonight, you have to think there won’t be many sign wavers in the crowd. It’s a funny story, but I still think the more frequent swarming by security takes some of the fun out of the game. Rather than cancel my tickets, maybe I should just wear a paper bag on my head . That’s what is going down in Milwaukee and Frank lays out why people sometimes just have to stand up for themselves (like myself and Walter ) even if it seems like a small drop in the bucket, or in our case, a kick at the base of the CN Tower…it’s felt, but not that much. Bruce Bowen, he of "if you jump, I’ll slide my foot under you" fame, has ...

When I say "worst tournament ever," of course, I'm not talking about BHGP Bracket Madness, which is hard charging like an unstoppable demon train as we speak. I mean the Big Ten Tourney, which is currently halfway through the second day of this rotten iteration. Yesterday, we were treated to three completely awful exhibitions of basketball. The day's first travesty was Michigan against Iowa, two teams that combined to accomplish precisely dick this year. The Wolverines, a team with a season-long pattern of poor rebounding and defense, destroyed the Hawks on the boards in the first half and forced 8 turnovers to Iowa's 3 assists. The two teams ...
Why Bowen didn’t deserve the suspension

I expect the majority of readers to disagree with this post, and I expect a good portion of the comments to tell me how stupid I am, at least in some form.
That’s fine.
I am writing this because something had to be said. I am tired of listening to people blow everything Bruce Bowen does out of proportion. This latest incident with Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets is a great example. In a physical game between division rivals, things got a little heated, and Bowen and Paul had an altercation. Immediately after the game, all the talk was about how Bowen kneed Paul in the chest to knock him down, adding further proof to the argument of ...

Prior to San Antonio’s 3rd loss in a row, a 103-96 defeat at the hands of Philly, Spurs F Bruce Bowen protested his most recent one game suspension, with the Express-News’ Jeff McDonald providing the shoulder to cry on.
Vehemently denying the league’s assertion that he had purposefully kicked New Orleans guard Chris Paul, Bowen said it bothers him to be considered a dirty player.

So many analysts and bloggers have been talking defense lately. Tim Duncan Gets Super Lucky Hits Clutch Three Against Suns, My Spurs Hatred Reaches New Peak

If you've come here looking for praise of the Spurs and Tim Duncan, then I suggest you leave now, because you won't find it here - ever.
Tim Duncan didn't hit a clutch shot to force the second overtime. He lucked out and hit a shot he never takes. There's nothing clutch about that at all. It's like picking some idiot out of the stands and asking him to hit a half-court shot. Occasionally the idiot hits it. Was he 'clutch'? Hell no. He was lucky, just like Duncan.
Now, once again, the loathsome Spurs - and their hideous brand of basketball - have the upper hand on the Suns. I don't ...

I’ve noticed that throughout these playoffs the “flops” have certainly picked up and it just makes me sick. Kirilenko’s flop on the Louis Scola “foul” may have won the Jazz the game. Was it a foul? You can argue yes, but it was for sure the flop that sold it. Manu Ginobli is notorious for his flopping and could be one of the worst in the league. After seeing this garbage in the playoffs and regular season year after year, it gave me an idea to try and put together an “All NBA Flopper Team.” Andrei Kirilenko (Utah Jazz: #47: Power Forward) Oh boy do have I found some good stuff ...
