carter_blanchard Completely agree. Jordan's move was totally unnecessary. Which I guess is sort of awesome in its own way that he did it just to do it, but the fact that Roy's move was necessitated does make it pretty damn impressive. -
Jason I've never been a fan of that MJ move for a different reason ... by his standards, it just wasn't very graceful. His stumble at the end is the kind of thing you see from regular guys, not The Man in his prime. But because of the situation, we saw that clip roughly a million times over the next 5 years.

Brandon Roy goes all Jordan on Chris Bosh

I am fully under the belief that Brandon Roy can do no wrong. 25, 9 and 8 from a guy that has the flu and was operating at 70% Wednesday. The more I watch this guy play, the more I am in awe of what he is able to do. See for yourself:
Brandon Roy - NBA All-Star? How About Brandon Roy - NBA MVP?
Published 12/20/2007 by Berger at Sports Business Radio blogs
Quick. Which team is the hottest team in the NBA currently? Is it the Boston Celtics? Maybe the San Antonio Spurs? How about the Phoenix Suns or Dallas Mavericks?
The answer is none of the above.
Its the Portland Trail Blazers who have won 9 straight games. That's not a typo if you've been out of the loop for a while. Yes, the youngest team in all of the NBA has won 9 straight games and has done so by beating some quality teams - including Utah (twice), Denver, New Orleans and Toronto last night. The last time the team lost was December 2nd at San Antonio.
Many of my media co-horts are asking the question about whether or not guard Brandon Roy, ...

People are fired up in Portland. A nine-game winning streak. Some Hollinger stats saying the team is likely to make the playoffs. And the highlight of the year so far. (You know Brandon Roy is big time -- otherwise he wouldn't get away with so many steps!) Let the record reflect that Brian Berger of Sports Business Radio was the first to suggest that Portland's Brandon Roy should be the MVP of the NBA this season. And now, apparently, some protests outside ESPN headquarters. Jason Quick of the Oregonian quotes a hilarious line from Jarrett Jack about this play: "If that's not on ESPN's top-10 plays, ...
Brandon Roy and the Blazers Have Arrived
Published 12/20/2007 by Matt Watson at FanHouse
Filed under: Trail Blazers, Western, NBA Videos, NBA Last Night The point of this post isn't just to show you Brandon Roy's pretty move from last night (ht: BallHype) but also to give props to the Trail Blazers as a whole. By beating the Raptors last night, Portland has won nine in a row and are officially A Team To Be Taken Seriously. They haven't beaten a bunch of cupcakes during their streak, either: they beat the Jazz at home and on the road and went into ...
Game #26 Recap - Blazers 101, Raptors 96

Before we get started, I have to give credit where it is due. Faris, you wrote a good post yesterday. I’ve been hard on you, but if the net effect is to improve the analysis you provide before you state a conclusion or prediction, it will have all been worth it. And this isn’t just because, for once, you had a little optimism regarding the Blazers.
As you’ve all read by now (yes, I’m posting a day late), the Blazers did indeed win and now own the lead’s longer current streak to nine games (thanks to the Detroit Pistons, of course). The Blazers now stand at 14-12, after an increasingly unbelievable series of events. I can ...

Posted by: Ben Couch The Legend of Brandon Roy , now with video. If you're looking for a relatively unheralded pair of beat writers to learn from and love, Steve Luhm and Ross Siler come correct with their Jazz coverage . I wonder what it would like to physically resemble Dwight Howard , and Dwight wonders about being like Yao . Yao wonders about being a dinosaur . Also in there: Rashard Lewis is due up for an MRI. Neck pain = The Wackness. Josh Boone keeps it real ... real humble . Your Daily Dose of KD : Anthony Carter -- useful! . Some suggestions for Mo Cheeks . ...
Brandon Roy Gives Chris Bosh the Michael Jordan Treatment
Published 12/21/2007 at FanIQ Blog
I don't know if you've been paying attention, East Coast, but Brandon Roy is quickly morphing into an NBA superstar. Hardly a surprise to those who watched him develop each year at Washington, but it seems he's ahead of the predicted curve.
Roy's (18.9 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 5.5 APG) latest highlight came Wednesday night versus Toronto where he gave Chris Bosh the Michael Jordan switching hands treatment. How smooth was that?

That's sick. Like the commentators said, very MJ-esque.. but I've always found MJ's original move to be so trivial.
Unlike Roy, Mike really didn't need to do that, no one was even attempting to block his shot. Yeah when I first saw it (Jordan's) it was cool, but somehow, over the years, I find myself getting angry that there wasn't any point to it.
What I'm trying to say, in a long winded way, is that thank god Roy made that move respectable. I can now sleep better.
