Enjoy what must be one of the most obvious bad-calls in a long, long time.

(Anti) Homer Call Of The Day: The Atlanta Braves
Published 4/23/2008 by Awful Announcing- at Awful Announcing
It's been a bit since I posted the first "MLB Homer Call of the Day", so I thought I would hit you with one on a slow day in Sports. This one comes to us from Sport South's coverage of the Braves and Nationals game. ...

Umpire Goes to FAILtown
Published 4/23/2008 at The Sporting Blog
I hate baseball with the passion of a smoldering blast furnace, but I'm doing this baseball post because in all of its forms I praise ineptitude and the art of making a huge mistake in front of thousands of people. Plus Mottram's sleepy, I just chugged a full cup of coffee for the evening shift, and as a youth league umpire I once called a ball three feet foul "fair" in order to enrage a parent I hated. Braves' Announcers Are Un-Homeriffic

You really would get more of a reaction out of an ESPN announcer (or FOX, or whomever) if this happened in a site neutral game than Simpson and Sciambi did. Which is hysterical too, when you consider the way they were hyping up John ...

That appears to be the incorrect call, sir

Thanks to Dave MN for passing along one of the worst safe/out calls you will ever see in baseball. Braves vs. Nationals, a few nights back. Wow. Dick and Bert would not have been pleased. Even Bobby Cox didn’t quite know how to argue.

Thursday, April 24, 2008 (4/24/2008 05:28:00 PM) - Al Friend of Ramblings Philip sends this bit of umpiring to take a look at...compared to this, Prince's called strike three on a ball a few inches outside is not nearly as bad. I've never seen a base umpire blow a call so badly that other umpires could have easily overruled him, but this is it . 4/24/2008 05:28:00 PM Site Meter
