Flyers Gameday: The Kings
Flyers Goal Scored By... —
After last nights thrilling shoot-out win, the Flyers get right back at it with a game against the LA Kings. Terry Murray, the long-time Flyers coach, is behind the bench of the young Kings, and the Flyers will look to keep the road-streak going. The Kings are jam-packed-stocked-loaded with talent. Taking a look at thier roster, you can see a team that is so close to becoming a stud in the West. Kopitar, Frolov, O'Sullivan, Doughty, Johnson, Brown, Armstrong, Moller, Quincey....I mean this team isn't far off. Ron Hextall is doing a good job out west as assistant GM, yet his opinion on goaltenders isn't faring so well. Thanks to a ...
Sidney Crosby's Fighting Style: Dirty as I Wanna Be, Part 2
FanHouse —
by Adam Gretz Filed under: Panthers, Penguins, NHL Fans, NHL Fights, NHL Videos A couple of weeks ago Eric McErlain passed along the video of Penguins center Sidney Crosby punching an unsuspecting Atlanta Thrashers player in the goods. It didn't exactly go over well with hockey fans because, well, a lot of people may have been suspended for a similar move while Crosby went unpunished. On Saturday, with the Penguins getting their hats handed to them -- again -- on home ice, Crosby decided to take out his ...
Sidney Crosby Keeps Picking Ugly, Unfair Fights
SPORTSbyBROOKS —
Sidney Crosby is a punk? Don’t scoff, he’s really acting like it over the past couple of weeks. With the Penguins mired in a catastrophic losing skid, Crosby picked his second fight against an unsuspecting victim in two weeks, and his moves this time around were just as lowbrow as they were the first time ...
Fight Video: Sidney Crosby really earns his instigator penalty
Puck Daddy —
Frustration, thy name is the Pittsburgh Penguins. Unless you consider a Sidney Crosby fight off the faceoff and his 21 minutes in penalties to be harbingers of sunshine for the Pens in their 6-1 humiliation to the visiting Florida Panthers today: From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: The Penguins' frustrations began to mount and culminated with center Max Talbot fighting the Panthers' Gregory Campbell off a faceoff at 16:59 of the second period, followed two seconds later by center and captain Sidney Crosby going after Florida's Brett McLean. It was the ...
The Primal Warrior That Is Sidney Crosby Battles Again
The700Level.com - Philly Sports & Minutiae —
After his last "fight," which included sucker-punching a man who was down, then punching him in the junks, all while still wearing his gloves, Sidney Crosby was going to have to get real tough. Like, drop-the-actual-gloves! tough. Whether the other guy knew there were going to be some fisticuffs, however... That's not important.
What the hell was that? If you're going to fight, man up and square up. Just jumping someone and getting his jersey over his head as fast as possible is a coward's way out of actually, ya know... fighting him. For his part, Sid defends the scrum as a ...

The Pensblog - A Pittsburgh Penguin Site Managed By A Bunch Of Jokes That Can Barely Run Their Own Lives —
It's embarassing when you make Craig Anderson look like Patrick Roy. You know what's worse? The Panthers had lost 4 straight coming into this one. Patience is wearing extremely thin. Just when you thought Panthers couldn't ...
Hockey Fight of the Day: Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins vs Brett McLean, Florida Panthers
FanIQ Blog —
Sidney Crosby won this fight, without a doubt. But nothing about it makes him a winner. I have no idea what he's trying to do here, other than make a name for himself as the most pathetic wuss in the NHL. First, there was his cheap shot on Boris Valabik, and now this.
I'm all for a good fight, and I think that it adds a lot of excitement to the game of hockey. I'm not the biggest hockey fan on the planet, but I think there are a few unwritten rules about fighting. The first of which is that you should always agree to fight, instead of just ambushing someone, especially as their head is ...
Hockey Roundup [Whoo!!]
We Eat Children —
Previous Post: Better School Spirit Through Streaking [Whoo!!!] Hockey Roundup [Whoo!!] We have the continued odd behavior Sid “The Kid” Crosby, the miracle on zmrzlinový (that’s ice in Slovak) ground to a halt and Todd Bertuzzi singlehandedly won a hockey game for the Calgary Flames against the Nashville Predators. Crosby Losing It? We’ll start off with the video. Superstar, face of the NHL and object of Alexander Semin derision Sidney Crosby loses his mind and jumps Florida Panther center Brett McLean off the faceoff. I love to see hockey players lose their shit like this, the fact that it was Sydney Crosby doing the suckerpunching ...
Crosby's embarassing display
From The Rink —
This is pretty ridiculous:
I'm tied up in the newsroom due to the Canada-Russia festivities at the world juniors, but George Richards of the Miami Herald and Greg Wyshynski of Yahoo! Sports have more.
For what it's worth, I agree with Nick Boynton: "That was just embarrassing. I can understand a little bit what he was trying to do, but that's a not a very professional move. You ask a guy to fight. You don't jump a guy when his head is down taking a face off. That's pretty immature and childish."
Sidney Crosby vs Brett McLean, Hockey Fight Video, 1/3/09
NESW Sports, Sports Videos —
Sidney Crosby vs Brett McLean, Hockey Fight, 1/3/09. The Penguins center and captain Sidney Crosby wails away on Florida’s Brett McLean right after the puck drops during the second period. He drops his gloves and pulls McLean’s jersey over his head. He did not have a chance, and I think that McLean put this one in the old filing system. We have not seen the end of this. As the announcer says in the vid, the Penguins were sick and tired of being sick and tired. This was another embarrassing. ( 6-1 )

Tonight the New York rangers (23-14-3) lost to the Washington Capitals (26-11-3) by the score of 2-1. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports. ...how is it possible to hate a team tied for first in their division as much as I hate this team? No scoring, no power play, league leading 12 short handed goals against, and the hardest working player on the team (Prucha) only gets 10 minutes of ice time while the incredible shrinking Gomez gets over 20!!! ...hey at least we found out that Redden is finally good at something. Dropping the Gloves: Triple Edition
Fear The Fin —
Hello.
Welcome to Dropping the Gloves, the seventh one in its existence. Today we will explore the battling of three Sharks. Two of them do not fight very often (guess who they are), so their fights were quite interesting.
Round 1, we have Jody Shelley vs. Derek Boogaard
A very, very intriguing fight between two heavyweights. Boogaard can be quite scary as seen here. This was the 5th fight between them. They start the fight getting ready, and waiting for one or the other to make a move. Shelley grabs on to Boogaard first and they both have a hold on each ...
The Sidney Crosby and Brett McLean 'fight' blown out of proportion
PensBurgh —
Everyone is having a field day with this, so I figured it's only right to say my part as well. As always, I'd love to hear what you guys have to say about it.
In this video you'll notice an altercation between Florida's Brett McLean and Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby. Note: Florida's Nick Boynton is not involved in the debacle. Why is this important you ask? Because apparently people feel it's valid to quote someone who wasn't involved with the incident as the best source regarding the fight:
"That was just embarrassing. I ...
Loose Pucks - Crosby Ignores “The Code”
Canes Country —
Loose Pucks - Crosby Ignores “The Code” As we take a quick look around the hockey world, there were a couple of interesting hockey “fights” this weekend. First of all, Sid Crosby picked up an instigator penalty as well as an unsportsmanlike conduct and a 10 minute major misconduct for mixing it up with Brett McLean during the Pens loss to the Panthers on Saturday. As the two players lined up for a faceoff, Crosby showed all the class of his potential mentor, Sean Avery as he jumped McLean, who never had a chance. Crosby claimed that he asked McLean to go before the rumble, but it sure didn’t look like the Florida center was expecting to be ...
3 Things
The Willful Caboose —
1. One thing that always amazes me is how Caps fans and Pens fans canNOT shut UP about the other team’s superstars. What is it about cheering for Crosby that means you have to argue that Ovechkin sucks? Ordinarily, my stance is along the lines of “Ladies, please. Both of your teams have dazzling ...

Fighting Like Girls
The Power Play —
Over the weekend there were two pretty embarassing fights in the NHL. And my apolgoies in advance for comparing these fights to how girls fight in the headline. Because I bet most girls have been in better fights than these two. First off we have Sidney Crosby, or as we shall start referring to him, "Sucker Punch Sidney." Sucker punching guys seems to be Crosby's thing as of late. First we had the crotch punching incident, and now this "fight" against Brett McLean of the Florida Panthers. After the game, ...

Obligatory Sports Babe If you were watching the Chargers-Colts game on Saturday night, I'm not sure it could have been possible for you to not notice the Chargers' cheerleaders. And, well... I figure it couldn't hurt to take another look, so here's Marlina. Some screen shots from the game via Busted Coverage. Jay Mariotti Sighting! Honestly, I don't give a shit about Jay Mariotti, or whether he's a douche bag, or what. I just kind of don't read him. But a lot of people do, apparently, and he's quite the polarizing figure. His new gig at Fanhouse began today, which ...
Sidney Crosby: Golden Boy No More
The Sporting Blog —
Ever since Sidney Crosby's arrival in the NHL at the start of the 2005-06 season, the powers that be at NHL HQ in New York have decided to go all in with the Nova Scotia native when it comes to betting on the future of the league in North America. Like it or not, Crosby has been painted as an "aw shucks," Canadian golden boy, never mind the fact that persona might not have much, if anything at all, to do with the reality of who he was on the ice. ...

Two major hockey events occur during the holidays. First is the N.H.L. Winter Classic, which was played on New Year’s Day for the second consecutive year last week, this time featuring traditional rivals Detroit and Chicago in front of nearly 41,000 spectators at a festive Wrigley Field. There’s also the I.I.H.F. World Under-20 Championship, known as the World Junior Championship, which features the best young players not in the N.H.L. This year, the tournament is in Ottawa, the big games at the Senators’ home rink, the 19,000 seat Scotiabank Place. It began on Dec. 26 and ends tonight with the Sweden-Canada gold medal game (NHLN in the U.S., TSN and RDS ...

Fire Michel Therrien. Hire Pat Quinn. Trust me. He's, like, great with young players. Alright, alright. Please. There, I said it. Now make the move. For the sake of my fantasy hockey team. I've got Sidney Crosby. Yeah, I know, I'd much rather have Ovechkin, ...
An Open Letter to Sidney Crosby
Barry Melrose Rocks —
An open letter to Sidney Crosby My dear Sidney Crosby, you seem a bit stressed out as of late. Now, I know that since you are the captain of a closely watched team, and you have the Reebok deals and such. It's understandable for you to be stressed out. I see it in your face--you're giving us the "grrr, I'm so angry and/or constipated" look more often. And then, there's the whole junk punching thing. Sid, (I won't insult you by calling you "the kid" since we're the same age) even the busiest of us need to take a little self-love time. I think I can offer you some advice on ways to relax. You should have some sort of release for anger that ...

Pre-cap: Capitals vs. Penguins
Capitals Kremlin —
"Ovechkin is a great player, but every time he hits me -- I don't know why." - Evgeni Malkin "What's so special about [Crosby]? I don't see anything special there." - Alexander Semin "We'll stick up [for Malkin], like you would for any teammate..." - Sidney Crosby Tonight's matchup between the Penguins and Capitals will likely be more than a routine meeting between the teams. While there is an incredible amount of back-story heading into this game thanks to Alex Ovechkin, Alex Semin, Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby, it also could be a turning point for both clubs. The Capitals ...
Sidney Crosby returns to new linemates, Panthers' revenge?
Puck Daddy —
Sidney Crosby is returning to the lineup tonight for the Pittsburgh Penguins, which should have the Bashers using a squeegee on their keyboards -- due to the saliva generated while thinking about a Crosby-less four-game winning streak ending against the Florida Panthers upon Sid's return. (Never mind that Marc-Andre Fleury's been lights-out in three of the four wins; it must be Sidney's fault, right?) Crosby skated with two new faces at practice: Chris Kunitz, who has five points in his first three games with the Penguins; and Bill Guerin, who the ...

For Penguins fans, the 2008-09 season was quite unlike anything they've ever seen. There were sicking lows and highs that future teams will never hope to outdo. It was a dazzling roller coaster that took place over parts of nine months.

Veteran center Brett McLean (last with the Florida Panthers) has been invited to Brandon to participate in pre-camp activities with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
It’s an opportunity and that’s really all I can ask for,’’ he said. "There are no guarantees here and that’s what a tryout, is all about. I know it’s important for me to come out and show what I can do right from the first day, that’s not a lot of room for margin of error.’’
McLean had been placed on ...
