There was an embarrassing moment during Bud Selig’s self-congratulatory press conference yesterday where his cell phone went off while he was speaking. The obviously-perturbed commish looked at his phone and mumbled something about getting fined, but when he realized it was his wife, he nonchalantly joked(?) with reporters,
“It’s only my wife, I’ll punch her out.”

Amidst the ongoing Congressional inquiry into the steroid problem in baseball, Bug Selig signed a contract extension yesterday. The term of the contract will see Selig have the second-longest tenure as baseball's boss. At his press conference to announce the extension yesterday, he received a call from the woman we assume has stood by his side through thick and thin. Selig muted the very masculine ringtone, said something about fining himself, and then gave us a little preview of what goes on at the Selig house when press conferences are interrupted by poorly phone calls:

Alright, so that headline is maybe a bit misleading. But that is exactly what Bud Selig said during his press conference yesterday:
The presser was to officially announce Selig's new contract extension, which makes him baseball overlord through 2012. And why not? It's not like anything horribly bad happened under his watch.

Bud Selig doesn’t like to be bothered at work - especially by his wife.
BUGS AND CRANKS slaps up a clip from a recent press conference with the Commish. As he speaks to the enthralled media, Bud gets interrupted by a cell phone call. He sees who it is, and plans what to do about it afterwards:
“It’s only my wife. I’ll punch her out.”
Yikes. Maybe she was calling to apologize for burning the roast last night. Guess Mrs. Selig will have another black eye to explain to the neighbors.
