I was at the game....and it seemed much worse on TV.

Of course, boos, being louder and deeper, will always drown out cheers.

My guess is that about 30-35% of the stadium booed.

But oh well, people are making too much of a big deal out of this.....of course, I'm sure that Eliot Spitzer would have been cheered

Does he not send a message to children and other countries in that people are openly booing him?

President Bush takes the field at Nationals Stadium

Happy New Year
Playing for Peanuts Blog — I missed most of tonight's Braves/Nationals game, but I thought it was interesting how many people can claim to know if President Bush was being booed or cheered. Unless you know where the mics are placed and how the audio is mixed, you have no idea. Although you can hear specific boos placed over a drone of cheers, leading me to believe the boos were upped in the mix to keep it ambiguous. Until camcorder footage comes out, there's really no way to tell for sure. Anyway, here's the best fastball I've seen since Brian Morris threw out the first pitch on Philadelphia's Irish Night last ...

Sunday night walkoff and Bush’s reception
Obscure Sports Quarterly — What a way to start the season (post-Japan edition). Washington’s Ryan Zimmerman hit a walk-off homer in a pitching duel, shortly after the Braves had tied it up by scoring on a passed ball. It’s good to see baseball back again. Though what will likely be remembered more than Zimmerman’s ...

Tough crowd..
BOSTON IRISH — Oh man. Tough crowd! I actually almost felt sorry for the chap. While reading about the game and the incident overall online I came across this well presented, well written blog on the Nationals. Isn't it funny how people see situations differently? ''The most anticipated (action) was The Presidential First Pitch. To most everyone's credit--George W. Bush was not overly booed. In fact--there were far more cheers than jeers.''I don't know, I mean, you tell me, was that booing, or cheering? Sounded a little like raucous booing. Hey though, ...

Bush Booed, Nats Scalp Braves In Park Premiere
SPORTSbyBROOKS — The Furman Bisher -approved start of the 2008 MLB Season got underway Sunday night, as the Nationals debuted their new ballpark - not even waiting to give it a corporate name . And Washington’s game against Atlanta had it all - from Bush-booing to walk-off winning. The special night began with George W. Bush tossing out the ceremonial first pitch. Unfortunately, the Nats decided one controversial figure on the field was enough, as they kept Paul Lo Duca from catching the Prez’ pitch and put manager Manny Acta behind home plate instead. As Dubya was introduced and trotted out on the field, it sure sounded like he was ...

George Bush booed at Nationals home opener: the truth hurts don’t it?
Hail Mary Jane — So yesterday was opening day around the Major league. The Nationals played their home opener against the Braves and to throw out the first pitch they had our President George W. Bush. He didn’t get such a warm reception though, maybe they are mad about the looming recession? Maybe it’s the BS war? Maybe it’s the high gas prices? Or maybe it’s just the fact that he’s an idiot? Here goes.. Tags: nationals home opener, president ...

Happy Opening Day!
Guyism » celebs — Yeah, we know it's not really Opening Day thanks to the asshattery that is Bud Selig, but it is to us. Hopefully your day is better than George W. Bush's was yesterday as he received a less than warm reception from the crowd at the Nats game. They're not saying Buuuuuuuuuuu-sh, either.

Nats Fans Love Bush
Intentional Foul — The Washington Nationals opened their new ballpark last night with a 3-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves. On hand to kick off the Nationals Park festivities was President George Bush (the Second) and the Nationals crowd made sure they discussed his approval rating the best way they new how: by booing him. Judging by their reaction and by his impressive booth appearance (well, it was better than his press conferences on, say, Iraq), maybe he should have stayed in the baseball business. Post from: Intentional Foul Nats Fans Love ...

Bleeding Green Nation — My guess is that the national media won't throw this in Washington fans' faces for the next 20 years. That said, I couldn't help but chuckle at this... Politicians and sports just don't mix... Oh, and happy opening day!

Somebody’s Lyin: Bush Booed Or Not?
You Been Blinded - Now in Dazzling HD — By now you’ve all heard about President Bush throwing out the first pitch for the Washington Nationals-Atlanta Braves opening day game. Some say he was welcomed with boos, some say cheers.. With the mess in Iraq and the current state of the economy, I’m pretty sure they were booing, but I wasn’t there. Luckily people with cameras were there but even they don’t tell the same story. President Bush Gets Booed Throwing Out First Pitch: ...

BOOOOOOOOOOO!
Mac Gs World — My man Dan Froomkin sums up the boos GW Bush received after throwing out the ceremonial first pitch to open National's park. Seventy percent of the country thinks he sucks at his job. What did people expect? I agree with Deadspin's Will Leitch that Bush is actually alright to listen to when he is talking about baseball and seems to thoroughly enjoy the discussion more so than coming up with other words to describe the economy without using the dreaded "recession" label. I have been arguing for years that Bush knows more about the Ranger's ...

I would like to have seen him shake off a sign and do a full wind-up, but in terms of accuracy and power, he blows away all previous presidents. There. NESW Sports, Sports Videos — Bush Throws First Pitch Video, Compare 2001 World Series and 2007 Opening day. The first video is of George W. Bush leading America into battle. Throwing a strike while America wanted him to throw a strike. America was hurting and we only had BASEBALL to help us all. His approval rating was around 90%. The second video tells a different story. Bush’s approval rating is now around 20%. The worst approval rating for a president in the history of approval ratings for presidents. He threw the 2007 Opening Day first pitch for the Washington Nationals. In the video, he ...

President Bush: Not Exactly A Crowd Favorite
MVN Outsider — President Bush threw the ceremonial first pitch at the grand opening of Nationals Park on Sunday, and predictably, the crowd wasn’t particularly welcoming to him as he strolled out to the mound. I wouldn’t necessarily say the crowd was “booing” him…it might be more accurate to say he was “jeered” by the crowd, with a few cheers mixed in. Take a look, and judge for yourself the crowd’s reaction to the President: Your obligatory Simpsons reference: They weren’t saying “boo,” they were saying “Boo-ush” (if you have no idea where that comes from, ...
