Is He Available for Parties?
Bugs & Cranks — We have here Gar, a 35 year-old father of 2 Los Angeles fella. His Stupid Human Trick is imitating batting stances. Except it’s not stupid at all, it’s AWESOME. He can do anybody. I particularly enjoy the first 3: Pujols, Edmonds and McGwire. This video is his Cardinals video, but there are others. He does the Red Sox, the Yankees (again, what’s with the Big 3 being the Red Sox, Yankees and Cardinals? That’s…unsettling) and he also does random 1980s stances. This guy is awesome. He should be available for parties, bar mitzvahs, and weddings. Maybe even funerals. ...

This Guy Is Officially Awesome
FanIQ Blog — I'm sure a number of you out there have wasted a few hours of your life imitating MLB players' swings. It's a fun thing to do, since MLB batting stances are so unique that if you do them well, everyone will know exactly who you're imitating. My personal favorite mock batting stance is Darryl Strawberry, and I always end it by doing a fake line of cocaine off the back of an imaginary hooker. But one guy has taken swing imitations to an extreme. He does a slew of awesome batting stances from the past, present, and future. Well, not the future, but you get my point. And rather than nail him for wasting his time, I'd ...

I Want You To Hurt Like I Do [MLB Closer]
Deadspin — I love it when a team says that they have released a player "by mutual agreement." That usually means that the team says: "We're not going to start you anytime in the near future, and if you don't like it, then $#%! you." And the player responds: "&%$! me? No, &%$! you!" Various doors are then slammed. Anyway, Frank Thomas is no longer a Blue Jay. And he must have really been a pain in the ass, because Toronto is eating $7,081,967 of his $8 million salary this season. Mmmm, bitter regret. And hey, with Frank on the market, good luck finding a job now, Barry Bonds! The file on the Big Hurt: Last season he led the ...

Simmons: An über editon of the links
ESPN Feed: bill simmons — Sorry for the delay with the latest edition of the Links. Unfortunately, I've been traveling for the past three weeks and kept falling behind on e-mails, so there wasn't enough time to slap a decent batch together until this weekend. Thanks to everyone who keeps sending quality links along, especially those readers with the foresight to put "LINK" in the subject heading. OK, now to the good stuff: With the one-year anniversary of my "B.S. Report" podcast coming up, I wanted to hand out some awards ... an idea that would have been much easier if iTunes ...

Decision 2008: YouTube Stance-off
Bird Land — PITTSBURGH – Had some minutes to kill here in the Steel City — but not enough to finish writing about a visit to Engine House 25 and the Roberto Clemente Museum (that will, fittingly, come tomorrow) – and that was when I received an email from friend, fellow Picayune alum, and Cardinals’ fan, Ben Hochman. He covers the NBA, so he’s got plenty of time to surf the Web. (Ha.) His email included just a YouTube link, one I have clicked before and on that has made the rounds through some corners of Cardinals eNation. Watching the YouTube clip again got me ...

2009 All-Star Game logo
Cardinal Nation Globe — The Cardinals have just unveiled the logo for the 2009 All-Star Game to be hosted in St. Louis. Beautiful and simple, the logo features the Gateway Arch and a bird-on-a-bat. Also, if you haven't seen Batting Stance Guy on YouTube, check him out doing the Cardinals lineup.

Batting Stance Guy
Redbird Rants | A St. Louis Cardinals Blog — Just to lighten the mood after yesterday’s loss, we’ll revisit the Batting Stance Guy. Enjoy!

Cardinals Batting Stances
Rockin' the Red — There's not a whole lot to comment about today. I spent two and a half hours at a Student Government meeting and a total of four and a half doing Student Government stuff last night, which means I missed the game as well as anything else that happened to be on TV. I didn't miss much. There's a part of me that wants the season to end right here, as it's hard to watch the lifeless Cardinals struggle through this final week when we already know what the outcome is going to be. Then again, I'm going to miss them sorely when the season's over. There's nothing else to distract me from the end of Cardinals baseball this year, either - the Rams are ...
