chone I don't know, but from that top of the backboard angle it looks like Garnett doesn't even make contact with Zaza initially. I'm just really glad Tommy took the night off last night, he might have started drinkingagain. -
FlyMaster KG is all bark....He's constantly jawing at people. Zaza stepped up and called KG's bluff. KG talks tough, but my money would be on Zaza punching him in the neck' -
WithMalice You can only elbow grown men in the chest, face, [insert other random body part] for so long before someone gets jack of it.
Kudos to Zaza for stepping up.
Joe Johnson, Joe Johnson, Joe Johnson
Celtics 17 —
There. The title says it all. The player of the game stunned the Celtics, with the Hawks winning 97-92. Johnson was great. Period. He scored 35 points, 20 in the 4th quarter. We have a new clutch player stepping up on to the NBA scene.
The Celtics yielded a 10 point lead beginning the 4th quarter, losing by 5, thanks to Joe Johnson. Suddenly, the Hawks-Celtics series is knotted at 2-2. Here’s a little Joe Johnson fix from the 1st quarter, but do not let this be a substitute for watching the 4th quarter.
I had to get Joe Johnson out of my system with the title of this blog, because he could have been ...
Kevin Garnett Backs Down ... Again
FanHouse —
Filed under: Celtics, Hawks, Eastern, NBA Playoffs, Boston, Atlanta It's hard to argue that Kevin Garnett didn't do the right thing. Even after Zaza Pachulia got in his grill, KG kept his hands at his sides and didn't retaliate. No one wants to see Garnett get tossed out of a close game for taking a swing; not the Hawks, who'd have their victory tainted, and not the Celtics, who'd be worried about a Game 5 suspension. That said ... how come when Dirk Nowitzki does this he's labled "soft," but when KG does it he's praised ...
"Boston Sucks! Boston Sucks!"
The Legend of Cecilio Guante —
How often do sports fans get to chant something as fun as "Boston Sucks, Boston Sucks!" in their sportsfan lives? For us folks in Phatlanta, it ain't very often. Granted, the Celtics are more than capable of destroying the Hawks over the course of the next two (and hopefully three) games. But when an 8 seed under .500 backdoors into the playoffs ...
Will Kevin Garnett Get the David Stern Superstar Treatment [Hawks-Celtics Fight]
FanIQ Blog —
You don't need to answer that, it's clearly rhetorical. Of course he will.
It was a big surprise that the Atlanta Hawks won Monday night. However, it was not a surprise that the Hawks were going to step up, push around Boston a little and test their mettle.
Zaza Pachulia played his part by getting under Kevin Garnett skin by holding him down on a rebound attempt. KG clearly frustrated with his team's play, exacerbated the event by shoving Pachulia again with his elbow. Both players deserved technicals, Zaza bordered on a double T by confronting Garnett again and essentially ...
Suspensions Coming?
RedsArmy.com - The Voice Of Celtics Fans —
Ok… these are the questions we’ve got to ask after yesterday’s “altercation.”
Question#1: Did KG push a ref?
It’s at the :15 mark. He certainly struggles to get free… and he’s not gentle about it. It was a big debate today on “Mike & ...
What Will Happen Next?

There is talk all over the radio, TV and internet about if the will be any suspensions for game 5 following last night's skirmish. The following players could be suspended for different reasons, some for as little as one foot on the court. Kendrick Perkins, KG, Sam Cassell, Zaza Pachulia, Marvin Williams. Decide for yourself by watching the video. My friend Jamie said to me, remember times have changed since these brawls. ...
Celtics vs. Hawks: Gang Signs; Refs Shoved?
SLAM Online —
by Marcel Mutoni
Paul Pierce and DeShawn Stevenson became $25,000 poorer yesterday. Stevenson because, well, he’s Stevenson; and the League says that Paul made a “menacing” gesture towards the Hawks after Al Horford taunted him towards the end of Game 3.
The incident occurred during a timeout with 22.2 seconds left in the fourth quarter as Pierce walked near the Atlanta bench. He made the hand signal before being pulled away by teammate Brian Scalabrine.
There was speculation Pierce was making a “blood” gang sign; he did not comment before last night’s Game ...
Oh, Atlanta!

No small feat, beating the best team in the land twice. Running a franchise that is torn between multiple owners can't be any fun, but credit Mike Woodson with having his players on the same page and playing hard. The offense is kind of ragged at times -- the only time they look really organized to my non-coaching eye is when they watch Joe Johnson in isolation -- but everyone is all over every loose ball, and the spirit is excellent. I have been hearing all season that, despite widespread rumors he was a lame duck, Hawks players have been buying what Mike Woodson has been selling, and that's huge. My most lasting memory of ...
Game 5 Suspensions Possible for Celtics, Hawks
The Sporting Blog —
Just in case you didn't think Cetics/Hawks was the craziest thing since flying cars and talking dogs, it could be about get even crazier. The Boston Globe , apparently looking to get burned to the ground, broaches the possibility of Game Five suspensions stemming from what occurred in the video above: Replays showed Garnett shoving referee Ed Rush, and Perkins and Williams went on the floor from the bench, which usually means an automatic one-game suspension. "I don't know anything about it," said Celtics guard Ray Allen, who had a team-high 21 points. "I'm sure if there is some relevance, then we're going to have to deal with it." My two ...
No KG?

2 Responses to “No KG?” April 29th, 2008 at 2:11 pm rangerjohn says: i think KG should for the simple fact that the ref had him pulled out of it, and he pushed the ref off and went back at zaza. on the other side zaza should be suspended indefiantly FOR HAVING A GIRLS NAME lmoa April 29th, 2008 at 2:20 pm Diego says: Garnett is a punk, who the Hawks have no trouble clearing out of the paint when he tries to post up. (He was a mouse for the rest of the game after he realized Zaza could crush him.) The only guys the Hawks frankly can’t stop are sweet Ray and Rondo. But no matter how much I hate the Celts (and love the Hawks), I don’t ...

Celtics/Hawks Game 4 Altercation: Zaza Pachulia decides to go toe-to-toe with KG
Hail Mary Jane —
Ok so things are getting really testy in the Hawks and Celtics series and it seems to be working in the Hawks favor. They have tied the series with the Celtics (who many people expected to win in a sweep) and they are definitely getting into the head of the leagues best team.
Whether or not they can put it all together and be this years Golden St Warriors, I dunno, but they already had a moral victory in this one, if that counts for anything. In this video Zaza Pachulia (who?) goes toe to toe with Kevin Garnett and he shows that the Hawks aren’t gonna be backed down easily.

That ‘ZaZa getting in KG’s face‘ thing was the Hawks defining moment early in the series. This, then, is what we would call “coming full circle.”

May Flashback: The 2007-2008 Atlanta Hawks shocked the basketball world by taking their first round playoff series, against the number one seeded Boston Celtics, to seven games. Granted, the Celtics, who later went on to win the 2008 NBA title, blew Atlanta out in convincing fashion in Game 7 (99-65), but nothing but positive energy seeped out in “A-Town.”
Nearly seven months later, Atlanta is back ...
