Saturday’s theme was late goals. Columbus scored in the 87th to tie the game and Chivas scored in the 88th to win the game. First we venture to Columbus where one Eastern Conference power meets a former power turned struggler.
Next we go to Los Angeles to see Chivas vs. San Jose. An interstate rivalry re-ignites this season and the game was a fun one.

Chivas USA defeated the Earthquakes on Saturday at the HDC. Ante Razov curled a world class ball off a set piece past Joe Cannon and the wall late in the game to provide the only goal.
San Jose was a little tougher than expected, but Yallop has the quakes playing aggressive with pressure. Defense seemed impenetrable, with 9 or 10 men were behind the ball at all times.
For the second time in two games, a player of the opposite team went down in the box injured, prohibiting an attack. Last week a Red bull went down in the box, prohibiting arguably the best chance on goal.

For the second consecutive week, Ante Razov has won the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week for a long-distance strike. After winning the award for his free kick goal in the 1-0 over San Jose on July 5, Ante won again for his one-timed strike on July 10 against the Galaxy.
