Bruce Bowen Suspended
Dime Magazine —
It’s over. For kicking Chris Paul in San Antonio’s loss to the Hornets on Wednesday, Bruce Bowen was suspended for one game by the League. Bowen will miss tonight’s road game against the Pistons, which ends his streak of 500 consecutive games without a DNP. We’ve got two clips of the play: The first is from the Hornets’ broadcast, which is of course titled “Bowen kicks Paul.” The second is from the Spurs broadcast, naturally titled, “Chris Paul punches Bruce Bowen.”
Why Bowen didn’t deserve the suspension
San Antonio Spurs —
I expect the majority of readers to disagree with this post, and I expect a good portion of the comments to tell me how stupid I am, at least in some form.
That’s fine.
I am writing this because something had to be said. I am tired of listening to people blow everything Bruce Bowen does out of proportion. This latest incident with Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets is a great example. In a physical game between division rivals, things got a little heated, and Bowen and Paul had an altercation. Immediately after the game, all the talk was about how Bowen kneed Paul in the chest to knock him down, adding further proof to the ...

Eventually I'll figure out html. Not this season, tho. Click "Read More"! There are lots of ways to flop. There's the I-really-did-get-fouled-but-need-to-make-it-look-far-worse-to-catch-the-refs-attention flop, there's the I-just-lost-the-ball-and-need-to-pretend-someone-hit-me flop, and there's also the ever popular flying-backwards-twenty-feet flop, most commonly, but not exclusively, used on attempts to draw offensive fouls. And it's obvious that some flops (and floppers) are definitely more flagrant than others, but that begs the question... exactly how do we quantify flopping? Can we really say that someone who slightly exaggerates ...

Was Bruce Bowen A Dirty Player?
Project Spurs - A San Antonio Spurs Blog and Podcast —
Bruce Bowen's retirement was probably met with cheers from around the league, including both opposing players and fans.
The cheers were probably the loudest in Phoenix.
With Bowen retiring, it is only fitting to look back and try to decide his legacy. Unfortunately it is a legacy that is up for debate. On one hand we have an eight-time all-defensive team player who was one of the game's premier lock-down defenders of his generation. Kobe Bryant routinely said that Bowen defended him better than any other player. On the other hand we have players such as Amare Stoudemire, Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki calling Bowen a dirty ...

I’m in the Philippines at the moment for work, and I woke up this morning to find a photo of Robert Horry and Vlade Divac on the front page of the newspaper. A little weird, yes, but as I said last year (exactly one year ago) this country loves their basketball. I took it as a sign that I should update this blog. Yeah, about freaking time.
ONE: If you haven’t already seen Michael Jordan’s HOF induction speech, it’s worth a look. Was it gracious? Was it shocking? Was it downright arrogant? Make up your own mind, but there’s a few pieces floating ...
