The best Stanley Cup commercial we've seen this year
Published 5/21/2008 at Puck Daddy
If you don't love this, there's no love in you. This new NHL commercial captures everything that separates the Stanley Cup from the rest of the trinkets given out in the world of sports. Seriously, what comes close the depth of tradition and honor among champions the Cup symbolizes? A gold medal at the Olympics? Do you realize Vin Baker has a gold medal from the Olympics? Back when I was writing "The Jester's Quart," a weekly sports column for SportsFan Magazine, I penned a piece called "My Trophy Can Beat Up ...

This is great.

Quite honestly this is one of the best commercials the NHL has put out. Also, I am really not meaning to post all the youtube vids, it just happens.

Wow, What A Commercial
Published 5/22/2008 by Scotty Hockey (noreply@blogger.com) at Scotty Hockey
It has been easy to jump on all of the inadequacies of the NHL's marketing in recent years. From the NHL store to the broadcasts to the scheduling to the logo change, the league has made many mistakes and has done quite a poor job. But I have to bow down and say that I have been utterly blown away. Puck Daddy ...

Round 1 to Kobe
Published 5/22/2008 by Sturminator (noreply@blogger.com) at Bob's Blog - Live from Lewisville
Busy sports day. But, let’s start with hoops, where the Spurs were up 20, only to lose. Wow. That is one of those losses that you might not be able to recover from. Blame it on the plane, San Antonio… Let's be clear here. Once the Mavericks and Stars are out of the playoffs, it then becomes my rooting interest to attempt to foil the Spurs and Red Wings from being Champions of the league, and thus at least, keep the annoying fans of those teams from being too insufferable. I admit it is a bit sad, but then again, so are sports. So, with that being said, Go Kobe and Go Sidney Crosby. We ...

Very Cool Stanley Cup commercial: Cup Raise
Published 5/22/2008 by houroc at SportFiends
The NHL is trying to be like the NBA with cool commercials promoting their product.  It has worked for the NBA, they’ve had their highest ratings these playoffs than they have in years so why not. The NHL did a pretty good job though, I like this commercial. Tags: stanley cup, nhl

Cup Raise
Published 5/22/2008 by Ken (noreply@blogger.com) at The Power Play - The interweb's most insightful and delightful hockey blog!
While we anxiously await the Cup finals to start - seriously how much longer? - the NHL has produced a video about raising the cup and it is absolutely beautiful. It brought a tear to my eye. Well it would have. If I wasn't such a cold heartless bastard of course. And if all that botox didn't block my tear ducts and actually prevent me from showing emotion. ...

The Wings, The Pens, The Cup and The Chance May Never Come Again..
Published 5/24/2008 at HockeyBuzz.com: Daniel Tolensky
It seems like it's been weeks. I watched all the highlight shows. I watched the Memorial Cup. I even watched basketball (ugh). Tonight we can finally stop talking about this series and start watching it. There's very little that hasn't already been said so here's two videos instead... To get you inspired for tonight, here's the NHL's new commercial, probably the best that they've done to date. And don't forget that although the Pens look like a budding dynasty, it's also possible that "The Chance May Never Come Again".. Wings in 7 - and not just because I bought a pair of seats for Game Seven at the Joe. Enjoy the game! ...

Game Over
Published 6/5/2008 by Ellie (noreply@blogger.com) at hlog {Hockey's Ladies of Greatness}
It always amazes me how high hockey can lift you up. And then how far it can drop you down. A few random thoughts of the last 72 hours... Game 5 If you were under a rock Monday night and missed: the Pens blowing a two goal lead the Wings coming back to make it 3-2 Max Talbot's goal to tie it with thirty seconds left 3 grueling periods of OT which all ended with Petr Sykora scoring a goal he called earlier in the evening You missed quite a show. Pens had nothing to lose that game and everything in the world to gain. ...
