Radio Fight! Le Batard vs Bilas
AwfulAnnouncing — I put a link in the open thread below, but I thought this one was worthy of its own post. Here is Jay Bilas and Dan Le Batard getting into it on 790 The Ticket earlier this evening.... Wow...that was kind of intense. I wonder if there's a bit of a history between those two. Anyone have some insight? As far as the interview I think Le Batard is right in saying it's not stupid and Bilas is right in bringing up the European angle. Like I say time and time again....no good can come when you bring up race. Jay Bilas Interview (790 The Ticket)

NCAA Title Pregame: Rose in Full Bloom
The Big Lead — The reason we’re 30 minutes late on this is because we spent 28 minutes attempting to crowbar a Blossom reference into the headline, but there was no way that was happening because Blossom and Jenna von Oy (Oy!) are forever intertwined. And as a middle schooler, we were totally crushing on Six. Digger Phelps just made his first statistical reference of the day! He stopped naval gazing for a moment and blurted out: “Robinson and Chalmers shot a combined (it was abysmal) in losses to Oklahoma State and Kansas State. That’s how you beat the Jayhawks.” He could have added that ...

ESPN's Jay Bilas and Dan Le Batard Get Into It Over Race in Basketball
FanHouse — Filed under: March Madness, NCAA Basketball Media Watch, ESPN Hat tip to Awful Announcing on this one. ESPN's Jay Bilas was a guest on Dan Le Batard's radio show and they got into it. The main topic of discussion was race in basketball (mainly at Tyler Hansbrough's pro prospects). It didn't seem to be what Bilas wanted to discuss. I mean, it is only the national championship coming up and I'm sure that Jay was prepared to talk about that. Le Batard instead hit him up with weird questions ...

JAY BILAS IS A BIT CROTCHETY
Zoner Sports — Via Awful Announcing: Dan Le Betard tries to engage Jay Bilas is some discussion about race in basketball. Bilas ain’t having it. The question: what do you think? Is Le Betard right? Is Bilas just being PC?

JAY BILAS GETS SNIPPY, AND WE LIKE IT
ProFootballTalk.com — Though it wasn’t quite a “ move on or move out ” moment, a Monday radio interview of ESPN’s Jay Bilas by ESPN part-timer Dan LeBatard regarding the issues of race in NBA basketball was nearly as riveting. We found it via a daily e-mail sent out by the folks who run the FanHouse , who had found it via Awful Announcing  (we hope we’ve appropriately satisfied the rules of blogging etiquette, while unshaven and wearing the same T-shirt for the fourth straight day).  We listened to the thing primarily out of curiosity.  On the air, Bilas seems to be only slightly more combative than Jim Nantz in a coma.  So we were ...

Steve Nash anybody?
18 to 88 — This is hilarious. Listen the whole way through. Jay Bilas owns the ever-stupid Dan Le Batard. White Canadians apparently don't count in his moronic, race-baiting argument.

Bilas Vs. Le Batard: Quien Es Mas Macho? [Media Feuds]
Deadspin — In case you haven't heard it, here's the exchange on Dan Le Batard's radio show between Le Batard and Jay Bilas. It's possible these two don't like each other very much. Generally speaking, we think Le Batard is more prone to discuss matters of race in sport than most of his colleagues, something we find commendable. But we kind of agree with Bilas here: We're really not sure what Le Batard's point is supposed to be. If Michael Beasley were white? If Tyler Hansbrough were black? Where you going with this? That said, Bilas is awfully short fused here; the man's pretty serious ...

Jay Bilas doesn’t like talking about racism
Rush The Court — Having spent many years in Durham, NC (basketball player/student-athlete, assistant coach, a law student, and lawyer), a community divided by race and wealth (see Duke lacrosse scandal), I can understand why Jay Bilas would be a little sensitive about racial issues. However, I never expected the mild-mannered Biilas would go off like he ...

The NBA and Race - Bilas Too Smart for Radio
East Coast Bias — Thanks to the Baltimore Sun's new blog The Life of Kings for bringing this to my attention. So recently Dan LeBatard of the Miami Herald invited Jay Bilas to come on to his radio show to talk about college basketball. Bilas, the only Dookie we tolerate, was an attorney before he returned to television as a basketball analyst. LeBatard wanted to talk about Tyler Hansbrough. His line of questioning included whether NBA GMs were leery of taking a white player since it has been so long since the NBA had a dominant white player. Bilas' reply, which I believe whole-heartedly, is that he had never heard an NBA GM mention ...

This is getting really old!
The 5th Corner — First off, before I write this blog the video I found is on one of my favorite sites: Awful Announcing. Here is the video, it's about 3:25 minutes, please listen to all of it, and then I will give you my take on all of this. (It is an interview of Jay Bilas by Dan LeBatard). Now to my rant blog about this. Dan LeBatard and I will never cross paths anymore. In other words, if he is guest hosting on my favorite sports show: Pardon the Interruption, I will turn it off. If he is a guest on some other show, I will not listen, ...

awfulannouncing.blogspot.com 4/8/2008 — Caught this clip right before the OSM last night and it cracked me up. Digger Phelps is trying to explain how Memphis fouling at the end of regulation would have helped them and that they didn't need a timeout to set up their defense. Jay Bilas and ...
