Dan Shulman Apologies For The New Speedo Guy
AwfulAnnouncing — I don't know how someone could approve a replay of a guy doing the "suck it" motion in a speedo and then say, "Oh crap...maybe we should apologize for that." But alas...this was the case last night. I'd be pissed if I were Shulman. He's the one that has to take the hit for someone else's dumb decision. Oh and Duke fans....seriously, you jumped the shark back in 1994. Try something new. ESPN apologizes for ‘Speedo Guy' (Out Sports)

Lingerie Football League Highlights > Duke's Speedo Guy
FanIQ Blog — After ESPN's full court hyping, Duke's Speedo Guy seems to be a popular figure around Al Gore's brilliant creation. (video via AA) Dan Shulman even went so far as to apologize to the viewers for having been forced to view a man in a small speedo. That's all well and good and I would like to apologize as well for posting this here, however I'll do a much better job of making it up to you. I can't in my right mind post a half naked man without following that up with several dozen scantily clad females tackling each other. Get ready for the Lingerie Football League growing. ...

ESPN Apologizes For Duke’s New Speedo Guy
MVN Outsider — With thanks to Awful Announcing, check out this video of Duke’s new “Speedo Guy,” whose debut on national television didn’t go as well as ESPN was hoping: I thought it was more funny than offensive, but then again, I can understand why someone might be pretty irked to see that footage aired. I mean, you don’t exactly tune into a Duke-UNC game expecting to see a dude wearing a Speedo gesturing toward his junk, so it was probably the correct decision for play-by-play announcer Dan Shulman to apologize. My issue with this is simply that a game was being played during the lengthy ...

The Post Mortem
The Hater Nation — Is the world sick of the Manning brothers media whoring yet? The brothers were a couple of shameless, unaware a-holes back when they were choking in big games. No they simply must be stopped. The Manning brothers were camera fornicating on the sidelines of the Duke vs. North Carolina game, causing many to pray for a leveling earthquake in Durham. (Seriously, the Cameron Crazies and the Manning brothers lying under the rubble of Cameron indoor, along with the ESPN college hoops crew. Who wouldn’t be rooting for that? That would be worth sacrificing Tyler Hansborough. Hey, you have to offer something to get something, ...

Weekend Tube Review: Speedo Guy Shames ESPN
The Sporting Blog — By Brian Powell ESPN Apologizes for Speedo Guy Another extremely exciting weekend of college basketball was almost ruined by one guy in a Speedo. Well, that's according to ESPN. In the midst of its never ending hype of the UNC-Duke game this past Saturday night, the network showed clips of the original "Speedo Guy." See, back in 2003 a clever Duke student disrobed down to a Speedo to distract UNC's Jackie Manuel as he shot free throws. here was another in 2005, and unfortunately for the viewing public, yet another Saturday night. The new "Speedo Guy" added a little extra to his performance though. It was a move first patented by the WWE wrestling troupe ...

Manu Ginobili Is Not Fazed by The Charleston
FanIQ Blog — There are a myriad of ways fans have tried distracting free throw shooters. The coordinators shifting of hands from left to right. The stupid noise sticks. Jumping up and down. Personal favorite - the well timed unleashing of a bikini clad poster. Suffice it to say, this is the first time I've ever seen The Charleston dance used. And as you might have guessed, it wasn't very effective. Manu wasn't fazed. Speedo Guy still wins.

It’s Speedo Guy Time Again (Duke/Carolina)
Intentional Foul — Remember him? Of course you do because ESPN made sure to remind you. The fact that I’m writing about this cat can only mean one thing — it’s time for another round of the “bestest, most stupendously incredible rivalry in the free world.” That’s right, North Carolina invades the confines of Cameron Indoor Gym Stadium tonight, where I’m sure Speedo Guy, or some derivative thereof, will almost certainly be seen when UNC shoots its free throws. When you are watching the game tonight, it’s important to remember ...

The Long Lost Tale Of Duke’s Speedo Guy
TheScore.com Blog — OK, so maybe it’s not technically lost—I can’t claim to know much about mid-90s Duke-Carolina lore—but I don’t recall it, so that’s good enough for me. And no, I don’t have anything particularly pithy to say about this one—I think the video kind of speaks for itself. ...

If you missed the Saturday night contest between Duke and North Carolina, you missed the above display of man beef in order to distract a free-throw shooter. But the real star here is Dan Shulman, who had to navigate his way through so many bizarre obstances. First, there's the mention of the "passing of the baton" between Speedo Guys, which I'd like to believe was a ...
