
Recap: Ducks defeat Wings in OT 5-4
Winging It In Motown —
The two most recent Stanley Cup champs faced off tonight at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California and it took overtime to decide the chippy game. With 19 power plays (10 of which were from Detroit penalties) in tonight's game, it came as no surprise to see both Anaheim and Detroit notch 2 power play goals apiece in the game.
Just a little over halfway into the first period, Pavel Datsyuk deflected a pass from Marian Hossa to get the early lead. Less than three minutes later, the Wings took two quick trips to the penalty box giving Anaheim a 5-on-3 advantage resulting in a Teemu Selanne goal.

If the Red Wings could stop giving teams 5-on-3 power play goals they’d be a force to be reckoned with. Mike Babcock said they have give up 5 such goals this season, which would be a season’s worth - but we’re only 1/8th of the way through the season. Last night the team was up 3-1 and just like that the Ducks score the next three goals.
Tonight Detroit faces former assistant coach Todd McClellan as the team takes on the Sharks. Nick Lidstrom edged out Niklas Kronwall for most ice time but Kronner continues to log heavy minutes at even-strength ...
