Dayton Dragons Brawl With The Peoria Chiefs
FanIQ Blog —
Either the heat of summer or the boredom of only hearing about Brett Farve day after day is starting to get to people.
First we had a soccer Riot during a not so friendly between West Ham United and the Columbus Crew this past weekend, then Danica Patrick confronted Milka Duno in the pit in Ohio, then on Tuesday night, the WNBA had their own fight night in Detroit. Now we head out to Dayton, Ohio for a brawl between the Dayton Dragons (Single A affiliate of the Reds) and the Peoria Chiefs (Single A affiliate of the Cubs).
After a few early bean balls that ...
Bair Unsuccessful in Peace Keeping Attempts
Pittsburgh Pirates —
I live in Dayton. And while the Dayton Dragons are a Reds affiliate, I couldn’t resist noting that there was a huge brawl that involved two former Buccos. The Dragons were at home against the Peoria Chiefs when a big time brawl erupted. There were a couple of HBP and Dragons manager Donnie Scott and Chiefs interim manager Carmelo Martinez (former Pirate) started arguing toe-to-toe. Martinez gave Scott a forearm shove. As players started to converge, Chiefs pitcher Julio Castillo threw a ball with full force toward the Dragons dugout. Apparently he missed and hit a fan. Brandon Menchaca leaped on Castillo’s back from behind and then it ...
Minor League Scrap: Dayton vs Peoria… Who ya got?
Hail Mary Jane —
ESPN - Fifteen players and both managers were ejected — and a fan was sent to the hospital — following a 10-minute, benches-clearing brawl in a Class-A minor league game between affiliates of the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs on Thursday night.
The ejections were reversed by the league president George Spelius and the game was completed with Dayton winning 6-5.
The fan was taken to the hospital after being hit by a ball thrown by Peoria (Cubs) pitcher Julio Castillo, who was throwing at the Dayton (Reds) dugout but missed during the first-inning melee ...
Minor Game Major Brawl
My Pinstripes —
A pitcher is in a Dayton, Ohio jail this morning, charged with felony assault after a huge brawl broke out in yesterday's Peoria Chiefs-Dayton Dragons Single-A baseball game. What started out as a heated argument between the team's managers, escalated when Peoria pitcher Julio Castillo fired a baseball at the Dayton dugout. To make matters worse, Castillo missed, and instead hit a fan sitting behind the dugout. It also emptied the Dayton bench and the melee was on. It all started in the 2nd inning when Castillo beaned Dragons ...

Juiced Links is back after a few weeks of being lazy not being able to post. Here’s the best of the week:
-This is the scene from a Mariners game with a fan running on the field.
-Mike Tyson and Larry Johnson partying in Vegas. Nothing bad could happen there, right?
-Why the hell is Childress leaving the NBA for a Greek franchise? People like him are ruining the NBA.
-Venus Williams and Josh Hamilton writing books.
-Video of that huge fight where a pitcher threw a ball at a fan.
-Another fight, but this one is in the WNBA, so who ...
Minor League Beanball Trial Goes To Court (Video)
SPORTSbyBROOKS —
Julio Castillo is certainly a dangerous man. Whether intentionally and feloniously so is, it seems, a matter for the courts. Dragons Brawl (Aw, they’re just horsin’ around. Let ‘em play, ump! Hey, why’s that fan bleeding from the ear?) Castillo is facing trial in Dayton, Ohio, for his role in a bench-clearing brawl between his former team, the Peoria Chiefs, and the hometown Dragons. Wait, that doesn’t adequately explain the situation. He threw a ball that cracked an unsuspecting fan in the skull . Video is below, and it’s stunning. The video’s rather short duration is deceptive; the brawl itself actually lasted about 10 minutes, according to ...

Some of you weren’t too impressed with Kevin Youkilis’ charging of the mound video earlier today, so we went through the farm system to see if we could call up something with a little more potential, and this A-ball skirmish (in Dayton, Ohio, no less) seems to fit the bill. Do people say “fit the bill” anymore? Who the hell is Bill? And why can’t he buy his own damn clothes?
Anyway, you can see how this whole thing gets started, as many fights do: two out-of-shape guys start screaming at each other, and then some young tough decides ...

Baseball fights don't get more frightening than this one
sports.yahoo.com 7/25/2008 — Usually when we post baseball fight videos here on the Stew, it's to have a voyeuristic look at men being boys with tempers flaring in the heat of battle but with no real damage being done. However, Thursday night's 10-minute fight between the Dayton ...

A huge Minor League baseball fight broke out in Dayton, Ohio last night between the Dayton Dragons and Peoria Chiefs I located this video from a fan's vantage point in the stands. By now just about everyone has seen this crazy Minor League brawl between the Peoria Chiefs and the Dayton Dragons. After things died down, Chiefs pitcher Julio Castillo was picked up by the police and arrested for felonious assault, held on $50,000 dollars bond, and ordered to surrender his Visa. There's nothing funny about the ugly minor league brawl between the Dayton Dragons and Peoria Chiefs . Rekindling the spirit of Jose Offerman , Julio Castillo did one of the worst things I’ve ever seen come happen in a sports brawl. It’s the winging of the baseball into the opposing team’s dugout that really makes this clip. Not that I condone such behavior. It just makes it stand out from your average baseball fight.
