Major League Soccer (MLS) Rumors - For the time between the games — Photo courtesy of a loyal MLSR reader. Blanco Comes Up Swinging
WVHooligan - Soccer Blog — As many of you have heard by now, Chicgo Fire midfielder and DP Blanco got a bit headed last night in the Fire’s 2-1 overtime loss to DC United in the US Open Cup. Blanco took his frustrations out on DC’s Clyde Simms and Marc Burch. The video highlights below (no audio) show the punch to Simms. Blanco and Burch were both red-carded for violent conduct. The league is looking into this matter and apparently the on the field issues aren’t the only thing from this. Apparently according to sources, Blanco also headbutted a DC United official on his way out of the game. No photos or video of that yet but still it sounds like a sticky situation ...

Cuauhtemoc Blanco is a Bad, Bad Boy
The Offside — Cuauhtemoc Blanco is a Bad, Bad Boy By: Laurie | July 9th, 2008 Rumors all over the place today about Chicago bad boy/Designated Player Cuauhtemoc Blanco assaulting one or more players on then field, and then headbutting a DC United employee. And from what I can tell, at least some of these rumors appear to be true In this earlier post , I described Blanco and DC player Marc Burch being sent off in the US Open Cup game between DC United and the Chicago Fire. The video above, at the end, appears to show Blanco delivering a hard punch to the gut of DC Player Clyde Simms. (It doesn’t show the retaliation by Marc Burch, but shows Blanco on the ground ...

A Blanco Bust Up (The Man is Trouble)
Yanks Soccer — Cuathemoc Blanco is fast becoming the MLS bad boy.  The Mexican international had a bust up in practice last week with Wilman Conde.  Many thought that Conde was the culprit but maybe we jumped to conclusions to fast.  Last night, Blanco received a red card in Chicago’s 2-1 loss against DC United.  He punched and attempted to poke Clyde Simms in the eyes which in turn provoked Marc Burch to shove Blanco to the ground.  Both Burch and Blanco received red cards but the trouble wasn’t over.  Blanco was idling off the field, and a DC United employee went to escort him to the locker room.  He then head butted the employee, sending him to the ground.  DC United ...

Is Major League Soccer Breaking the Law?
Dave's Football Blog — [image] I don’t think it’s any secret that I have my issues with Major League Soccer. It’s a cheap league run by cheap owners, its overhypes everything it does, it doesn’t pay much of the talent it has nearly enough, its playoff system devalues the regular season, and it uses this single-entity system where players sign with the league rather than the club, which results in these arcane and pointless rules that give Toronto FC the playing rights to Brian McBride, who last played in MLS about two years before Toronto FC was even a concept in anyone’s brain. My biggest pet peeve with MLS, though, is the fact that it does everything in their power to bury the U.S. Open Cup ...
