DSPN Should have offered Carmelo a drink. -
hero to most "Nice job from Fisher, one of the class acts in the league."
If you take a lot of charges (Fisher, Kurt Thomas, Nash, Battier), Mike Breen will sing your praises till the cows come in. Please tell me that fool isn't working the Finals.
Think Good Thoughts for the Fisher Family
ESPN.com - TrueHoop —
Derek Fisher almost missed the playoffs this year, flying around the country finding the best treatment possible for his toddler daughter Tatum's cancerous eye. On the day of her first of a series of radiation treatments to shrink the tumor, he hurried back from New York to Salt Lake City, where he made a dramatic entrance midway through the game, then forced a key turnover and hit a key three-pointer. Who could forget? For me, Game 2 of the second round series against Golden State was the most exciting game of the playoffs. At the time we were told the treatment had gone well. But retinoblastoma can result in the loss of an eye -- ...
Ten Reasons for Faith in Laker Nation
The Lakers Nation —
Ten Reasons for Faith in Laker Nation Published by Davey Da at October 9, 2007 in Davey's Take . Kobe wants to leave us. We lost Garnett to Boston. We exited last year in the first round, again losing to the (more and more hated) Phoenix Suns. And here we are, dying for the season to start! Behind the scenes Lakers management are still considering a major move. Mitch Kupchak’s line, however, remains the same, that the Lakers as currently composed can be very good. Guess what Laker Nation? He’s right. Get psyched, because here’s ten powerful reasons why now is not like then, and why you should share Kupchak’s optimism. 1. The Fish Yes. ...

Ex Orange in NBA playoffs: Carmelo Anthony
The Orange Squeeze —
I did a small blog about what Jason Hart, or better said what he did not do, in his first game in the `08 NBA playoffs. Now, with the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets finished it is time to see another ex Orange, and how he did. Of course I am talking about Carmelo Anthony, just in case someone did not know. Here are Carmelo Anthony's numbers for the game: Minutes: 37:29 Points: 30 (tied with Allen Iverson for most for the Nuggets) FG: 11 for 26 3PT: 0 for 1 FT: 9 for 10 Reb: 12 (7 offensive) Ast: 3 TO: 3 Stl: 2 A good game until the 4th when the Lakers took control. ...
Carmelo Gets Beaned In The Face; Odom Gets A Good Laugh
Lion in Oil —
It's bad enough to get a ball chucked straight into your face. No laughing matter, right? Well it seems that Lamar Odom got a good chuckle out of Derek Fisher beaning Carmelo Anthony in the face Sunday afternoon. It's easier to see in HD, but bare with me and check out the :15 mark on this video. That hurts. Then the laughter.

Lakers Fans Brew Up Special Chant For Carmelo
SPORTSbyBROOKS —
The Lakers were on fire Sunday - almost as much as the Nuggets’ pre-game bus ride - as Kobe& Crew clobbered Denver 128-114. Pau Gasol notched 36 points in the win, his first-ever playoff victory - which isn’t too hard to fathom, since the Spaniard’s previous 12 visits were with the Grizzlies. Pau Gaol Carmelo Anthony While Gasol was having a gas, Carmelo Anthony wasn’t having as good of a time. As the ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER reveals, some Staples Center spectators reminded #15 of his recent adventures behind the wheel: Lakers fans started a “D-U-I” chant with Anthony at the foul line, leaving Lakers executive vice president ...
Bad day for the Nuggets
Hail Mary Jane —
Yesterday was not the best of days for the high flying Nuggets. It was game one and they were ready to get things going in their best of seven series with the Lakers. Leaving 2 and half hours before tipoff, the Nuggets had high hopes but they’d soon be stranded on the side of the Santa Monica Freeway after their bus broke down and caught on fire. Thats not the type of pregame warmup Coach George Karl had in mind.
The bus left the team’s hotel about 2½ hours before tipoff as scheduled, but experienced problems about 15 minutes into the trip, club spokesman Eric Sebastian said. Players and staff had to wait on the ...
Worst of the (first playoff) weekend
Basketbawful —
DeShawn Stevenson: The Locksmith held "Mr. Overrated" to 32 points on 12-for-19 shooting...and most of those 12 makes were layups. Stevenson countered by shooting 1-for-9 and scoring only 3 points. Memo to DeShawn: Next time, wait until the series is safely over -- and your team has won -- before talking smack to LeBron. Actually, scratch that. It's probably best not to rile him up at all. For any reason. Ever. The Washington bench: Okay, Agent Zero scored 24 points on 8-for-16 shooting, and he even connected on four of his five three-point attempts. But I think we can all ...

Derek Fisher. The man. The controversy.

Derek Fisher Is Clutcher Than Clutch
Kornheiser's Cartel —
I just watched Games 5 and 7 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals on NBA TV, and this question is begging to be asked: How many MVP's would Derek Fisher have won had the Lakers been down one, with .8 seconds left in overtime every time he took a shot in his career? He played 13 whole seasons going into this year, so I'm gonna say he'd have 12. No one was going to beat Steve Nash in 2005, just like no one was going to beat Barack Obama this year. Barack had the black vote (and Billynho's vote), Nash had the white vote. It's the counter-transitive property. Look it up. No WAIT, don't. Oh yeah, Fisher. Clutch. It's just a ...
