Derrick Rose Does His Best Clay Davis Impression
Published 4/6/2008 at The Sporting Blog
By Will Brinson The following clip comes from the Memphis postgame press conference. Joey Dorsey is asked by a female reporter from a New Jersey newspaper (whose accent is the second funniest part of the clip) what he thinks of Derrick Rose. Clearly, Derrick has heard a lot of these type questions all season long, because his response indicates that he is tired of hearing these questions. And yes, his response is a swear under his breath for which he does not cover the microphone, so fair warning. Pure gold. The only way he tops that is by dropping a "I'm sorry I gots to get up outta here before I lose my damn mind" and then slamming the mic.

Derrick Rose Is Sick of His Teammates Being Asked About Him
Published 4/6/2008 by Charles Rich at FanHouse
Filed under: Memphis Basketball, Conference USA Basketball, March Madness, NBA ProspectsThe lousy and uncomfortable thing about a top-flight player on a team is having the press ask all the other players, "What's it like playing with ______?" It's fine the first couple times, but after a certain point it is just annoying. Not just for the players who have to answer the question, but for the player who has to sit there and here his teammates questioned about his greatness. Listen carefully, and you can hear how Derrick Rose feels about the question being asked of Joey Dorsey. ...

Derrick Rose Has His ‘Oh Shit’ Moment
Published 4/6/2008 by Chris Mottram at Mr. Irrelevant
Will Brinson, my weekend man over at The Sporting Blog, posted this video last night, but it’s so damn hilarious that it warrants mention here as well. Here’s D-Rose, on live television, reacting well to a reporter’s question: I’m still having trouble figuring out what exactly he was saying “oh shit” about. Did he just realize he left the oven on? Or that it’s the 5th and he hasn’t paid rent? No, as Brinson points out, Rose doesn’t “oh shit” the same petty stuff that normal humans do. ...

That's A Working Microphone, Derrick Rose [This Is Live TV]
Published 4/6/2008 by Sussman at Deadspin
"We don't look at Derrick as a freshman," said Memphis's Joey Dorsey of Derrick Rose, who scored 25 points in that win over UCLA. And for some reason, a reporter asking Dorsey what they think of Rose as a freshman playing well, prompted Rose — standing two seats over — to lay out a little hot-mic expletive. Now one has to wonder what Rose was afraid his teammate was going to say about him. "What do we think of him? I mean, once you get past the premature ejaculating and toenail eating, he's a pretty nice kid who can make things happen on the court. It's a ...

DERRICK ROSE DOESN'T LIKE YOUR QUESTION
Published 4/6/2008 at With Leather - Sports news and gossip for people who are all, like, "Whatever."
CAUTION: Clip contains Harry Truman's favorite word: My question for Derrick Rose would be: "Wouldn't you like to go to school closer to home and play for the mighty Blue Demons of DePaul?" Then, I would chain myself to his leg until he agreed. Oh well, at least Rose has the chance to continue the tradition of Chicago-bred point guards leading their teams to the NCAA Championship, just as the great Isiah Thomas did for the Indiana Hoosiers in 1981. Maybe Rose will have a successful pro career and then run an original NBA franchise into the ground as ...

Derrick Rose Does His Clay Davis Impersonation
Published 4/6/2008 by Brinson at Brahsome - Care To Get Nice?
Lest you think we only give a shit about Carolina (mu….hahahhaha), here is the video of Derrick Rose dropping an “S-bomb” on the mike after Memphis beat UCLA. It’s pretty sweet. And we found it first too. (Kind of.) So ha. Share This

Questions About Derrick Rose Seem to Bother Derrick Rose

May Want To Keep The Expletives To A Minimum When There’s A Mic In Front Of Your Face
Published 4/6/2008 by Dave at Sports Blog - football, basketball, and baseball
Listen closely, and you’ll hear freshman Derrick Rose dropping expletives when Joey Dorsey was asked about him being a freshman, and what it’s been like playing with him. I don’t know what Derrick thought Joey was going to say, but he seemed a bit nervous about a rather routine question with what one would think would be a routine answer.

Derrick Rose Forgets He’s On Live Television
Published 4/6/2008 by Anthony Hall at MVN Outsider
Apparently, Derrick Rose is tired of being the center of attention. At the Memphis postgame press conference on Saturday after the Tigers’ win over UCLA, a reporter asked Joey Dorsey a question about Rose…well, Rose apparently forgot that he was on live television, and a “whoops!” moment occurred. I can’t blame Rose for the slip up. Seriously, how awkward does it have to be when a reporter asks a question about you — but directs it towards a teammate? While hilarious, this clip also displays a ton of humility on Rose’s ...

Derrick Rose would just as soon you keep his name out of it
Published 4/7/2008 by Mike <info@cardchronicle.com> at Card Chronicle: Front Page Posts
Derrick Rose will be the most important player on a national title winner if Memphis tops Kansas tonight, but the freshman still has a ways to go when it comes to mastering the age-old art of not audibly swearing into a live microphone during postgame press conferences. ...

What Will The Media Do Without Above Average White Kids?
Published 4/7/2008 by Erik at deepsouthsports.net
white is the new black This is the worst possible national title matchup for the media. Watching the Memphis/UCLA game with my folks back in Memphis, it was painfully obvious who all involved in the broadcast wanted (read: hoped) to win. What you and I might see as a titillating (heh heh) Kansas/Memphis game of speed-on-speed, well, the national media is lost looking for a prominent honky to fluff. ("honky" or "honkey"? somebody help a brother out) No Tyler "Psycho T" Hansbourgh?!? No Kevin "Full Court 3" Love?!? WTF? Who will Dicky V filate? Who will ...

Thoughts on Memphis-UCLA

We’ll provide you with a more in-depth analysis later, but we figured we would offer some of our early thoughts. 1) Derrick Rose and Chris Douglas-Roberts totally dominated this game. As Memphis Pulls Away From Kansas, Derrick Rose Hits 'The Shot of the Tournament
In a brilliant NCAA Tournament that has made him a star, Memphis freshman Derrick Rose has now had his signature moment in the championship game. It happened with 4:06 remaining and Memphis leading Kansas, 54-49. Rose had the ball and was straddling the three-point line near the left sideline, and with the shot clock running down, he lofted a shot. The buzzer sounded with the ball in the air, ...

One-and-Done Rule May Have Made Derrick Rose a Cool 10 Million Bucks
The estimation of $10 million is, of course, just that. But Derrick Rose should probably give David Stern a huge hug when his name gets called during the first 30 or so minutes of the NBA draft in June.
