We’ve heard folks (on and off-air) calling ESPN’s Digger Phelps a crotchety, old foggie in recent days after his supposed blow up on-set about the reax of IU players to Kelvin Sampson getting the sack. We didn’t think what he did or said was all that bad. More importantly, thanks to a video of Phelps and a KU cheerleader at last Saturday’s Jayhawks-Kansas State game from THE BIG LEAD , we now have clear evidence that Phelps still has a goodly amount of testosterone coarsing through his plaque-ravaged veins (HGH spray therapy?). Either that or it’s the pregame minis of Cutty.

It is the long-held opinion of this writer that Digger Phelps, though he knows his schtick and plays it up well, is still an insufferable douche. After all, this is a man whose main contributions to the college basketball discourse are blind loyalty to Bob Knight and a matching tie and highlighter schema. And that’s it.

That's ESPN's Digger Phelps making nice with a lucky Jayhawk cheerleader. It's
certainly more swiveling hip action that I ever needed to see from Digger
Phelps, but for a 66-year-old man, that's not too bad. You'll see worse at
almost any predominately-white wedding reception.
As for the young lady, I certainly hope she had the self-esteem to not let
things go any farther than a little pregame dancing.
