Ryne Nelson I've never seen a crowd boo a player like Utah is booing Dirk. It is quickly turning into a defining game of the season. Whether he did it on purpose or not, Dirk committed a ridiculously hard foul. -
RedBaron You hurt him! You see? You see? He's not a machine, he's a man! -
la287 I hype this video up only because x-rays came back negative. The foul looked intentional to me, pulling Andrei down, but I don't think Dirk meant to injure anybody. Everytime Dirk touched the ball, he heard it.-
la287 Pretty nice that he made both his free throws... -
Ryne Nelson I agree completely. Not meant to injure...just to prevent the score. Still, given the way it all went down, Dirk should have been tossed.
-
-
allonthefield I thought it was intentional, too. He got him on the way up AND the way down. -
str8hoops That was totally reckless.

Dirk Nowitzki Takes Down Andrei Kirilenko, Sends the Fragile One to the Hospital
FanIQ Blog —
If you're just turning into the Dallas vs Utah game and wondering why Dirk Nowitzki is getting booed relentless with every touch this video may clear the air.
Nowitzki "inadvertently" bit on Andrei Kirilenko's pump fake and instead of reach for the ball he "inadvertently" reach for AK-47's shoulder and yanked him onto his back.
Kirilenko is more fragile than the majority of WNBA players, but an unnecessary move by the MVP. Andrei, which a history of back trouble, is apparently head to a local hospital for X-Rays.
Germany Invades Russia
Straight Bangin' —
This does little to disabuse me of the much-cherished bias that Euro ballers are goofy and awkward. At this point, Dirk Nowitzki is due a lifetime achievement award in unintentional basketball humor.
Ummm, Dirk? WTF was that?

Look… don’t get me wrong: I have a lot of respect for Dirk Nowitzki. He’s an awesome player. But his takedown on Andrei Kirilenko about halfway through the first quarter was one of the dirtiest things I’ve seen this season. Without a doubt totally unnecessary, and just a bullshit play, period.

Jazz 116 - Mavericks 110
Utah lost one of their starters, and lost a big lead but they still managed to hold on long enough for a win.
The Jazz went on a momentum changing fourth quarter and knocked down all 18 free throws in the fourth quarter, to help them to the 116-110 win over the Mavs at home. This helped them to maintain the best home record in the lead and leave them near the top of the Western conference where they need to be if they want to have a chance to go anywhere.
The crowd didn’t appreciate Dirk Nowitzki in the first quarter and the rest of the game after he fouled Andrei ...
Wake-Up Call: What Ovechkin means to you
The Sporting Blog —
By Spencer Hall, who is really, really glad Mexico kicks Shanoff out today, because getting up this early makes your brain smaller. You don't watch much hockey. That's a betting man's statement, as hockey in the United States ain't exactly pulling hat tricks in the ratings. An absolutely certain statement, though: You should be watching Alexander Ovechkin, even though you're not. Ovechkin and his wondrously untoothy mouth scored a hat trick ...

New Orleans 100,

An entertaining game, and a
lot of the credit has to go to Knicks coach Isiah Thomas and Hornets
coach Byron Scott for creating a game made for the NBA junkies.
Though hoped-for Knick stalwart
Eddy Curry played well (19 and eight rebounds, just two turnovers in
almost 34 minutes; very good for Curry) and was on the floor for a while,
Thomas mainly took a long look at the fringe of his roster, and was
rewarded with a sound effort. Here's hoping ...
Dirk Apparently Still Sore About Russian Winter, Clocks Kirilenko Hard

Filed under: Mavericks, NBA Injuries, NBA Videos, NBA Last Night, Jazz, Dallas(Terrible headline. I apologize in advance, in retrospect, and in perpetuity. But hey, Dirk Nowitzki only fouls hard once in a blue moon.) Video via Odenized. Here is Kelly Dwyer's description of the event: Seriously, it's one thing to try and make an opponent earn his points from the line; but it's another to realize that you're in no position to give a deliberate-but-safe foul. Dirk didn't think, and may have done some damage. ...

Dirk Nowitzki clobbers Andrei Kirilenko
Ball Don't Lie —
My understanding of Soviet-German relations is a little rusty, but I believe the roots of this flagrant foul lie in the appointment of Detlef Schrempf as NBA All-Star in 1993. Schrempf’s hatred of pterodactyl-like defense and his crude ideas of basketball imperialism -- expressed in the pursuit of the three-ball -- made lanky Soviet Union players a natural enemy. He passed his hatred on to Nowitzki. In all seriousness though, Kirilenko was taken to the hospital for X-rays, which showed no break. He has a sprained right hip, will be re-evaluated this afternoon ...

Dirk Nowitzki: das gröbste Foul seiner Karriere? [2:44 min]
NBA-Blog —
