After a career where he mostly focused on playing good, solid stay at home defense he seems to have changed his game plan this year. Smith has zero goals and zero assists in 23 games with the Senators so far. He's plus one on a team that is plus one - even steven. His solid defense and explosive offensive play is earning him $2.6M this year.
