Holly Cote - Not Too Impressed
Holly Cote - Not Too Impressed
flyers07-08.blogspot.com — The Flyers walloped the Caps earlier today in an exciting 7-1 matinee. The Flyers used the old "tire them out by letting them get 400 shots and then just hammer them at the end" technique. And it was very effective. Something that wasn't as ... Harts & Carts Are Wild, But Niitty's the First Star
The700Level.com - Philly Sports & Minutiae — In the first half of The700Level's double-header at the Wach yesterday, the Flyers and Caps played in the tightest 7-1 game I've ever seen. After one period, the Flyers were up 1-0, but throughout the first, I couldn't help but be amazed by the shot totals. At one point, the Caps led by a count of 20-2, and the period ended 25-6. But... 1-0 Flyers. Antero Niittymaki stood on his proverbial head, and if he hadn't, that period (and the game) could have easily gone the other way. The Caps played well in the first, peppering Niitty with shots—good shots. From our perch up atop section 202, the Caps looked like they far outplayed the Flyers for the first 20 ...

Puck Headlines: What did Therrien mean by 'it's Sidney's team'?
Puck Daddy — Here are your Weekend Puck Headlines: A glorious collection of news and views collected from the greatest blogosphere in sports and the few, the proud, the mainstream hockey media. • Plenty of Sidney Crosby talk today, but we begin with a strange, cryptic comment from Pittsburgh Penguins Coach Michel Therrien. In last night's postgame press conference, after a 7-3 loss to the Maple Leafs, Therrien said "it was a bad game by everyone involved" before later saying "It's Sidney's team" -- the last thing he uttered before he walked away from the reporters. Check ...

Puck Headlines: OK, maybe Penguins coach Michel Therrien didn't say 'it's Sidney's team'?
Puck Daddy — Here are your Weekend Puck Headlines: A glorious collection of news and views collected from the greatest blogosphere in sports and the few, the proud, the mainstream hockey media. (Ed. Note: As was pointed out in the comments, it appears the final verdict on Therrien's press conference is that he said "We'll see next game." Empty Netters, one of the sites we saw quoting the Penguins coach as having said "It's Sidney's team" has corrected the record. We regret the error in our own game of hockey blogosphere telephone, and have altered the headline on this ...

What We Learned: On the obvious parallels between Mats Sundin and Mark Messier signing in Vancouver
The Two-Line Pass — Because I tend to not blog on the weekends, here is a feature that will run through the entire season. It aims to recap the weekend’s events and boils those events down to one admittedly superficial fact about each team. And hell, there’s a ton of other crap for me to blather on about too. And yes, I’m totally ripping off just about every other blogger ever’s weekly column, but that’s something you’ll have to deal with on your own time. Danger: This post contains language that some people might not like. This will be the only thing on the site that regularly does so. I’ve been sick of Mats Sundin ...

Riley Raccoon
The700Level.com - Philly Sports & Minutiae — We've seen Riley Cote wearing his fightcard on his face before, but this has to scare Holly a little... Perhaps this is the result of a recent fight with Mr. Brashear? Which was of course followed by a rematch... Put a steak on it, Riley. Might take a side of beef for all that though. ...

Flyers Dominate Washington: We Want Our Hats Back!Bleacher Report - NHL

Flyers 7, Caps 1Capitals Insider

Flyers-Caps: Nittymaki Slams Door In Flyers RoutBleacher Report - NHL
After being outshot 25-6 in the first period, the Philadelphia Flyers (18-8-6) ironically led the Washington Capitals (20-11-3) 1-0 thanks to the outstanding goaltending of Antero Nittymaki. When the clock struck zero after three periods, Nittymaki ...
