Huge KO: Edison Miranda Blows Up David Banks
Published 1/12/2008 at FanIQ Blog
We're only in the second week of 2008, and the Knockout of the Year might have already happened. On last night's Friday Night Fights, Edison Miranda destroyed Contender alum David Banks. Enjoy.

David Banks Is Significantly Worse At Long Division Than He Was A Day Ago [To The Moon!]
Published 1/12/2008 at Deadspin
I'm trying hard to remember the hardest I was ever hit in the head. It might've been when I was three or four, and the kid down the street struck me right in the coconut with a croquet mallet. Even at an early age, I probably should have been aware that his wielding of a croquet mallet was unsafe due to the mallet's head was well over mine, and I might have opted to step aside. This thought never entered my head, because the flat, unforgiving portion of the mallet beat it there. David Banks, however, had little time to react to Edison Miranda's kinda-padded fist landing on ...

THE NICKELODEON: KNOCKOUT OF THE YEAR?
Published 1/12/2008 by DCScrap at EPIC CARNIVAL | SPORTS NEWS WITH A TWIST
Usually knockout of the year contenders are dished out by guys you've heard of, but this is the rare case where perhaps the guy you've heard of was on the receiving end of the deathblow. Watch as Edison Miranda sends David Banks of Contender fame into la-la land ... after the jump. ...

Five Years Too Late?
Published 1/13/2008 by Ariel Helwani at Jarry Park - The Coliseum Of Combat Sports
Roy Jones Jr. (51-4, 38 KOs) faces Felix “Tito” Trinidad (42-2, 35 KOs) next Saturday at Madison Square Garden (true). The boxing world is buzzing over this showdown between two legends of the ring (not really). Fans are willing to pay $5,000 to seat ringside for this bout (I would love to meet those “fans”). A win by Jones over Trinidad could get his name back in the mix (questionable). This is an interesting one. There has been virtually no buzz surrounding this fight, yet, when you look at what these fighters have accomplished one would expect a little more excitement from boxing ...

BOXING IS DANGEROUS
Published 1/14/2008 at With Leather
This video made the Internet rounds this weekend, but guess what?  I don't work weekends.  Working weekends is for chumps assistant editors chumps. What we have here is David Banks getting KTFO by Edison Miranda, marking the first time in history that someone named "Edison" wasn't on the receiving end of a fist to the face.  It happened during ESPN's "Friday Night Fights," which I keep hearing is the best show on television, but I'm not sure if I understand.  Why are people boxing on a show about high school ...

You Got Knocked The **** Out!!!
Published 1/14/2008 by Chris at Intentional Foul
This video has been going around at a couple of sites, but it’s so good, we had to feature it here as well. What we have is Edison Miranda knocking out David Banks in the 3rd round of their fight, which took place on ESPN last Friday. Both boxers are super middleweights and so, there punches probably hurt a little more than the Floyd Mayweathers of the world… Anyway, Miranda knocks the stuffing out of Banks, who winds up falling through the ropes. After he is counted out (did it really take a 10-count to see he was through?), Banks almost trips over his corner stool and has to be helped when he sits down. I’m ...

KO of the Day: Edison Miranda v. David Banks
Published 3/21/2008 by SC <sachrist@gmail.com> at Bad Left Hook: Front Page Posts
Just in case you somehow totally missed it, this is from the January 11, 2008 edition of Friday Night Fights, and is the early front-runner for KO of the Year. My round-by-round reaction read as follows: "Miranda comes out throwing, and Banks goes down on a slip. Bad canvas tonight? Atlas and Pascal have an interesting conversation about Pascal's weaknesses while OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD. HUGE RIGHT HAND. BANKS FALLS OUT OF THE RING. GOODNIGHT, SEMINOLE HARD ROCK. HOLY SHIT. GOOD GOD." Is it any surprise that Jean Pascal, seated at the commentary booth ringside, didn't work out a deal ...

Miranda bombs Banks, Pascal survives Pittman

They passed the tests, but in very different ways. Super middleweight contenders Edison Miranda and Jean Pascal won their fights tonight, and are now tentatively scheduled to meet up in June. But the fights told stories: Miranda is exactly what we knew, a power-punching dynamo, and Pascal's performance exposed weaknesses that someone like Miranda could exploit in short order. Miranda was ...

Here’s a few words of consolation for K.O. victim David Banks : a) you’re going to be a featured performer on one of the most viewed YouTube clips to not feature skateboard bloopers, girls in their underwear or Mike Gravel throwing a rock in a lake. b) at least you weren’t punched out by Steve Downie. c) it’s not as though being beaten senseless has ...
