Eric Cartman Introduces the Colorado Buffaloes Defense

Thanks to AA for getting this up quickly. Before Colorado and Nebraska began putting on an exhibition of how NOT to play defense, Eric Cartman produced the day's highlight.

Eric Cartman Introduces the CU Buffs
Published 11/24/2007 by Larry Brown at Larry Brown Sports
This is actually something that has irked me lately. I can’t stand some of the introductions they give on TV. Why should Jonathan Papelbon introduce the BC players? Does he even know any of them? Has he ever watched any of their games? If the introducer has to look off camera and read off a teleprompter to find the player’s names, then he probably shouldn’t be introducing them. But when ABC gets creative and has Eric Cartman introduce Colorado’s players, then we’re getting somewhere. Witness:

Dennis Franchione Resigns From Texas A&M
Published 11/24/2007 by Stump at MUD FREE SPORTS
While there were no Big 12 titles or bowl victories in Franchione's five seasons, his tenure ended on a high note, a 38-30 victory over 11th-ranked Texas that gave the Aggies consecutive victories over their hated rivals. "This team has been special all year to me," Franchione said. "And I thought they played a wonderful game." Then, Franchione announced he was resigning. He accepted a buyout from the school. "I've always said that coaches exist for only one reason — the players," he said. "We want them to know that we love them, feel blessed for our time together, and will miss them." The victory over Texas was too late to save Franchione, coming after four losses the ...

Nebraska Fires Callahan, College Football Carousel Begins!
Published 11/24/2007 by Stump at MUD FREE SPORTS
The day after Texas A&M coach Dennis Franchione resigned, Interim Nebraska Athletic Director Tom Osborne has announced the firing of head football coach Bill Callahan. At a 10:30am EST news conference, the former head football coach legend, Osborne announced the decision to Cornhusker Nation. You could almost hear a collective cheer come from Nebraska. This along with the Franchione resignation rings extremely loud because of the success of Big 12 teams Kansas and Missouri. When a school with a long tradition like Nebraska has a tough season it only seems worse to fans when schools like Kansas with little football tradition have the success they have seen. Syracuse Orange Bounce Back, Beat Washington
Published 11/24/2007 by Stump at MUD FREE SPORTS
The #21 Ranked Syracuse Orange bounced back from their upset loss to Ohio State to beat Washington 91-85 in the consolation game of the NIT Pre-Season Tip Off. This is a big win for such a young team to go back into Madison Square Garden and come out with a win. Fans may look back at this game and count this as a very important win, from a confidence standpoint and even when the NCAA Selection Committee choses teams in March. Donte Greene had 25 points and 7 rebounds while Jonny Flynn added 16 points and had only 2 turnovers. Washington was hurt by their 21 turnovers in the game.

With LSU, Arizona State, and Texas losing already, today's college football games become even larger, and especially the Kansas vs. Missouri game in Kansas City. Never in the 116 game history has this game been bigger to people outside of Big 12 country. I am interested in this game simply because these are two great teams without the storied history of other great college football programs. I also like the fat man, Kansas Head Coach Mark Mangino. Where else can such a large man be considered a genius and get treated like a savior. I gotta go with the big man. Kansas Wins... 43-37. No. 4 Missouri beat No. 2 Kansas in a classic Border War game at Arrowhead Stadium 36-28. Missouri took control early and never let up thanks to the play of Missouri QB and Heisman candidate Chase Daniels. "Hopefully, we're No. 1 in the nation," said Daniel, the junior quarterback who threw for 361 yards and three touchdowns. "But all that stuff doesn't matter. We've got a tough game going down to San Antonio against a great Oklahoma team." That game against Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship game is just another in this season of big games. With a win, Missou is virtually guaranteed to earn a spot in the BCS Title game. The big question is what spot are they going to ...

With a slate of NFL games already being played on Thanksgiving, the game selection this weekend aren't the greatest. I like every home team except Cincinnati to win, which is uncommon for my picks. I think the greatest thing about this weekends games are the circus acts of the Patriots and the Dolphins. Will the Patriots go undefeated? Will the Dolphins go winless? I think both will stay on course, and as a Steelers fan, I hope the Dolphins stay on course. This is a weekend to be on the look out for great performances. There are some people who prefer the NFL’s overtime rules to college's rules. Just like there are people who prefer seeded grapes. And in either case, you just don’t want to know those people. Mike Shanahan is probably not in favor of the NFL's current setup, and who can blame him? The Broncos have lost two overtime games this season and have not had an offensive possession in either game. And this doesn’t seem goofy to anybody. You could argue that the onus is on the defense to make a stand. Maybe you think the college rules turn overtime into an extended version of the Arena League. Monday Night Steelers vs. Dolphins

Monday Night is upon us and time for a matchup between the Miami Dolphins at the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is interesting due to a few different factors, like Ricky Williams first game back, bad weather, and the Steelers loss to the NY Jets last week. I hope Williams can come back fully to his pre-drug suspension form. I see the Steelers winning this game easily, yeah...I know...big shocker. Steelers prove that, at least for this week, they are real. Steelers win 41-7.

They take on the winner of Saturday's Delaware-Southern Illinois Semi-Final when they travel to the FCS Championship Friday in Chattanooga, Tenn. Appalachian State Quarterback Armanti Edwards rushed for 313 yards and four touchdowns and threw for 182 yards and three more scores. Wow! No matter what level you are at, that is an impressive ...
NFL WEEK 14 PREVIEW!
Published 12/8/2007 by Stump at MUD FREE SPORTS
Week 14 brings with it some big games in the NFL for different reasons, many of the reasons are for teams on the playoff bubble. Of course the biggest game of them all has the Pittsburgh Steelers visiting the New England Patriots. But just as big of a game as that is for the Patriots to stay undefeated is the Dolphins game at Buffalo for Miami to not go winless. The game is also big for the Bills in order to stay alive in the hunt for a wild card. Bills win 31-10. Arizona takes on Seattle in order to sweep the season and to keep them in the playoff hunt. Both teams have gotten stronger and should be a top game this weekend in the NFC. Cardinals win, 28-24. Another game ...
Steelers vs. Patriots Preview! (VIDEO)
Published 12/8/2007 by Stump at MUD FREE SPORTS
Sunday brings us game of the year #4? or is it #3? I can't remember, but this is a big game for a lot of reasons. First, obviously the Patriots are trying to go undefeated and make the 1972 Dolphins shut up. Secondly, the Steelers want to prove they are an elite team in the AFC and can play with the Patriots and Colts. Thirdly, Ben Roethlisberger has always been called a "system quarterback" and would love to prove his value as a big game quarterback against the best in the game. Fourthly, there is talk that Randy Moss is starting to take plays off and not get involved as much as he did earlier in the season. Finally, many of you heard the comments Anthony Smith said ...

Mayweather was in control for most of the fight that took place in front of over 16,000 fans in Las Vegas, many who traveled from England to watch Hatton on his quest to be the first to defeat Mayweather. Hatton wasn't so impressed after the fight. "What a fluke that was," he said. "He is very good at making you miss. He was better inside than I thought. He caught me. It was working, but I didn't quite stick to the game plan. I was a little gung ho. He wasn't the biggest welterweight I've seen, but I felt the difference. I knew what the tactics were. ...
Knicks Owner Gives Isiah Thomas On 9th Life

Question, is Isiah Thomas a Cat? Is this his 9th life or has he surpassed a cat and is on to his 10th? Owner James Dolan gave Isiah a vote of confidence in a 20 minute meeting Saturday after a 28 point home loss to the 76ers. Fans in the 4th quarter chanted for the firing of Isiah. Does Dolan know something the rest of us don't? This is my philosophy...James Dolan wants the club to hit complete bottom and let Isiah take the fall for everything. Then Dolan can come in at the end of the season, clean house, and bring in anyone he wants. He will be a hero, fans hopes will be high, season ticket sales will increase, he will make a ton of money, increase the value of the ...
Patriots Beat Steelers, Cowboys Clinch NFC East
Published 12/10/2007 by Stump at MUD FREE SPORTS
The Patriots beat Steelers 34-13 in Foxboro and the Cowboys beat the Lions to Clinch the NFC East as the two best teams in their conferences stay on a path for Super Bowl XLII. The New England Patriots took a 17-13 lead into halftime and never relented in the second half, controlling the game thru passing rather than running, at one time rattling off 31 of 32 plays that were pass plays. The Patriots may or may not have been motivated by the guarantee made by Anthony Smith, but they attacked his coverage areas and exploited a defense missing their leader in Troy Polamalu. The Steelers at times looked like a great team and offensively played great in the first half. The ...

Of course the video posted on ESPN.COM is edited or from one of their sister networks. This is where ESPN becomes too powerful. Thoughts About NFL Network Showing Patriots vs. Giants
Published 12/28/2007 by Stump at MUD FREE SPORTS
As many already know, the NFL decided to allow NBC and CBS to simulcast the NFL Network's broadcast of the Patriots vs. Giants on Saturday December 29th. I have some thoughts about why the NFL did this: 1. Money. They are probably charging NBC and CBS a good amount of money to show the game. The NFL has most likely lost money on the failure to secure a deal with Time Warner and Comcast to place the NFL Network in their lineups. 2. Manipulation. Look for this to be a Super Bowl-like production with the NFL pulling out all the stops to make their channel look big time. Also, you can bet that their will be at least and maybe even two commercials per break for the NFL ...

NFL WEEK 17 Picks: Patriots Beat Giants Go Undefeated
Published 12/30/2007 by Stump at MUD FREE SPORTS
Week 17 kicked off in a game the NFL must be excited about, the Patriots beat the NY Giants 31-28 in a game where it wasn't decided until the final 2 minutes of the game. I think, though I am not a Patriots fan, they have to be considered one of the greatest teams ever, but will all be moot if they don't win the Super Bowl. Congrats! In other Week 17 games, there are still playoff implications that exist and should be a great Sunday for Pigskin! I like the Chargers to win to claim the #3 spot in the AFC, I think Cleveland will get the final spot in the AFC, I think the Vikings will win the final spot in the NFC!

The Gators look to showcase Heisman Trophy Winner Tim Tebow in a game more for pride and Conference bragging rights. I expect to see the offenses have a field day in this game and the defenses struggle like they have most of the season. I like Tebow and Michigan RB Mike Hart to have some great performances in this game, but I like Florida to win 41-34. Watch ESPN's Todd McShay preview the game below.

BCS TITLE GAME: OHIO STATE vs. LSU Preview and Prediction(VIDEOS)

The BCS Championship will be on Fox Monday Night live from New Orleans. LSU is coming off 2 losses in their season, but both in triple overtime. OSU is back in the title game after last year's defeat to Florida. The Buckeyes lost just once at home to Illinois. A lot of people are pitting this as SEC vs. Big Ten, but is more about the pride of the two teams playing. Though I think LSU is a better team, I expect the Buckeyes to come out swinging and trying to quiet the pro-LSU crown in the SuperDome. But the play of the Bayou Bengals and the crowd will be too much for OSU and the Tigers will dominate the line of scrimmage. LSU wins, 38-24.

The New England Patriots host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday at 8pm on CBS live from Foxboro, Mass. This is a game that many are looking at as a game where the Pats can fall to a hot Jaguars team. The Jags have a great defense, but have been beaten in their secondary in two games versus the Steelers this year. The Patriots Tom Brady is better than the Steelers Ben Roethlisberger, and the receivers for the Patriots is better than the Steelers receiving corps. This is an adjustment that the Jags will have to make since the Patriots throw 90% of the time. I think the Jags can get some pressure on Brady, but he will pick the defense apart. Seattle Seahawks vs. Green Bay Packers Preview/Predictions(VIDEO)

The Green Bay Packers host the Seattle Seahawks in a NFC Divisional Playoff game at Lambeau Field on Saturday at 4:30pm on Fox. This has upset written all over it. The Seahawks have a tough defense and coach Mike Holmgren returns to his roots in a chance to return to the NFC Championship game. Packers QB Brett Favre has had a great season and would have been everyone's MVP if Tom Brady didn't have the year he did. The Packers may face trouble if they are forced to run the ball. I don't see this as an upset, look for the Cheese Heads come out in full force and this to be a clinic by a veteran QB. Packers win, 28-7.

The NY Giants visit the Dallas Cowboys in a NFC Divisional Playoff game at 4:30pm on Sunday on Fox. The Giants are coming off an upset win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and a tight game with the Patriots in the final week of the season where they have shown the football world that this team is a real contender. The Giants are 8-1 on the road and more importantly, Eli Manning is playing like a winner at QB. The Cowboys and Tony Romo are still unproven in the playoffs and Terrell Owens is questionable for the game with an ankle injury. And, will Jessica Simpson be there? Just saying! The Giants have to pressure the Cowboys, something they haven't done in either game this ...
San Diego Chargers vs. Indianapolis Colts Preview/Prediction(Video)

The San Diego Chargers travel to take on the Indianapolis Colts in an AFC Divisional Game Sunday at 1pm on CBS. The last time these two teams faced off, Colts QB Peyton Manning played like little brother Eli Manning and threw 6 interceptions. I will bet my house that won't happen again! The Colts quietly won 13 games and were riddled with injuries. They nearly beat the Patriots earlier in the season and you can bet the defending Super Bowl Champions are on a mission to payback the Pats next week. The Chargers are being led by a new Norv Turner that actually showed some intensity on the sideline last week. I bet they will be prepared to cause problems for Manning, but ...

Patriots QB Tom Brady was 26 of 28 for 262 yards and 3 TD's. As has been customary against quality opponents, the Jaguars stayed close, even tied at half-time, before the Patriots pulled away in the 3rd Quarter and put the dagger in the Jags with a Rodney Harrison interception in the 4th Quarter.

Syracuse Loses To Villanova, Orange Turns To Pumpkins!

Syracuse went into halftime with a 35-30 lead but was outscored 51-36 in the second half and struggled from the floor only hitting 40% of their shots. Their defense held 'Nova to under 40% from the floor, but the Wildcats were able to hit on 5 more 3-pointers than Syracuse. What does this mean for the Orange? This doesn't sit well after losing 3 out of their last 4 and travelling to Georgetown on "Big Monday" on ESPN. Unless they want a repeat of last season, Syracuse is going to have to win these close games, especially at home and hopefully throw in a strong win on the road. We all ...

For North Carolina, the loss ends their unbeaten season and brings them back down to earth in the ACC. This reminds me of what we dealt with in football. The difference is in Hoops...we will settle it all on the court come March, while in football, teams are still crying they belonged in the BCS Title Game.
