PENS CONTINUE LOVE AFFAIR WITH OT
Mondesi's House —
RANGERS (18-8-2) 3 PENGUINS (14-6-4) 2 SHOOTOUT The Pens are to free hockey as Dion Phaneuf is to Elisha Cuthbert: they have a great affinity, perhaps even love, for it. And they gave another public display of affection on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden, site of many a classic sporting events, such as ...

The Prince and The Prucha - Redux
Ranger Pundit —
We are going green here at the Ranger Pundit. That means we are into recycling. For example, the title of this post "The Prince and The Prucha" is being recycling from an old January 20, 2006 post by Mike with that same title. In fact, that January 2006 game was played by the Rangers against the very Pittsburgh Penguin team, who the Rangers dispatched tonight in yet another shootout. Who said, "history doesn't repeat, it rhymes?" Well, that alliterative daily double of the Prince and the Prucha did it again tonight just like they did it 35 months ago. They saved the Rangers' bacon from getting devoured by a feisty ice chicken. Thirty-five months ...
Hockey Fight: Eric Godard vs Colton Orr
PensBurgh —
(JDUNMAN EDIT: I was actually writing Tales of the Tape when Frank posted this - so here's what I said about it.)
Occasionally one might wonder just what a player like Eric Godard's definitive role on the team is. I might question just how much hockey that one is actually watching, but it's a fair question...and Godard gave us a fair answer with his fight against fellow goon agitator Colton Orr.
The setup was a bit of a push (more like a love tap) from Orr to Sidney Crosby which didn't go over well with Godard. Doing the job he's paid to do, Godard went ...
Video: Eric Godard Makes Colton Orr Pay for Heinous Assault of Sidney Crosby
FanHouse —
by Bruce Ciskie Filed under: Penguins, Rangers, Eastern, NHL Fights, NHL VideosI had to laugh loudly at this one. During Wednesday's Penguins-Rangers game at MSG, Ranger, um, agitator Colton Orr took a poke at Penguins captain and hockey messiah Sidney Crosby. Pittsburgh's Eric Godard did what he felt was the right thing, immediately coming to Crosby's defense and eventually goading Orr into a fight. The video of the scrap, courtesy of HockeyFights.com: The replay of Orr's horrifying cross-check of Crosby ...
Why you'll watch - October - 7-20-09
Empty Netters —
Something we've done the past two offseasons is examine the recently revealed schedule, and just in case you needed a little bit more enticement to watch a team like the Penguins, come up with reasons to watch all 82 games on the slate.
So without any further delay, here's why you'll be watching in October.
Note: A few of these are recycled from last offseason because... well... you find a refreshing reason to watch the Devils.
Oct. 2 - vs. Rangers - They'll be hanging some bedsheet or something from the roof. They'll
probably have some lights and some music or something. It'll be kind of
cool we guess. ...
Colton Orr can change the Maple Leafs fortunes
TML Fan Fury —
Colton Orr the new Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer, will have his hands tied up literally this upcoming season as he takes on enforcers from around the NHL. He has the power in one fist to change the momentum in a game on his own, for any of us that have played the sport of hockey we know that, that one big goal or that one big hit or that big knockout can bring players to their feet and give you that extra jump and swagger that will help propel you to another level of play and none more then the big knockout. Colton Orr can change the Maple Leafs fortunes this season when he steps out on the ice, the Leafs for the first time in a long while ...
