Eric Godard vs Colton Orr Jan 5, 2009
hockeyfights.com: Fight Videos —
Well this was a beauty. In my VERY humble opinion, the two best fighters in the league right now. Please don't insult me now, I'm not a homer, I'm a Flyers fan! (The word "homer" is getting a little old too I'd say). Anyways, I didn't even know Godard was in the game until I heard the announcer yelling. Orr got off many more shots, especially one gigantic bomb to the back of Godard's helmet while Godard was trying to lose the elbow pad. Godard landed a couple more quality shots to Orr's mug me thinks, but all told, I am voting a very slight win for Orr, although I can totally understand this going any of the three possible ways for a result.

Monday's three stars: King Henrik and Canada's drive for five
Puck Daddy —
No. 1 star: Cody Hodgson, Canada With just two games on the NHL docket, the center of the hockey world last night was Ottawa, where Canada defeated Sweden, 5-1, to win its fifth straight world junior championship. There were plenty of heroes, including goalie Dustin Tokarski and his 39 saves, but Hodgson gets the nod here for his two goals (a power-play tally and an empty-netter) and an assist -- as well as for his overall tournament. The Vancouver Canucks draftee's three-point night tied him with tournament MVP John Tavares for the overall scoring lead (16 points in six games). All eyes were on ...
Tales of the Tape: New York Rangers 1/5/09, Eric Godard vs. Colton Orr
PensBurgh —
When things are going badly, it seems like nothing will be able to turn things around for the Pens, and last night's fight between Eric Godard and Colton Orr at the end of the game didn't help. Despite popular belief, there is a method to the madness of fighting in hockey, but this one just didn't make sense to me. But you know what? I'm not here to question why, so let's take a look at the fight.
You may notice that Godard gets his head punched. A lot. You might also notice that during the course of the thing, Orr never manages (or even really tries) to ...

Rory Grades the Rangers

Eric pointed out to me that the last thing I posted about was the Rangers/Sean Avery getting a shoutout on 30 Rock. And that was pure chance that I watch 30 Rock. Actually it’s not pure chance – 30 Rock is awesome, and clearly, I know awesome when I see it (not really, but just go with it, people).
So, here’s my post to make up for what a shitty blogger I’ve been for the last month. And it just so happens to be my ‘Grade the Players’ post; a month too late. Again, because I’m awesome – awesome I tell you!
Note: To determine which players I graded and what order they went in, I just ...
Colton Orr can change the Maple Leafs fortunes
TML Fan Fury —
Colton Orr the new Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer, will have his hands tied up literally this upcoming season as he takes on enforcers from around the NHL. He has the power in one fist to change the momentum in a game on his own, for any of us that have played the sport of hockey we know that, that one big goal or that one big hit or that big knockout can bring players to their feet and give you that extra jump and swagger that will help propel you to another level of play and none more then the big knockout. Colton Orr can change the Maple Leafs fortunes this season when he steps out on the ice, the Leafs for the first time in a long while ...
