The Tampa Bay Rays Educate You On The Fist Bump [Fist Bumps]
Deadspin — If you've got fist bump fever, the Tampa Bay Rays — who have instantly become the most fun franchise in baseball, on-field and off — have a helpful history of the fist bump. It makes absolutely sense that Kenesaw Mountain Landis would look to ban it. Seriously, though, about those Rays: Remember back in March 2007, when Rays president Matthew Silverman amusingly bought himself a blogger fan? We mocked them — good-naturedly — back then, but the Rays are clearly on the right track, fanbase wise. If there's any way to bring fans into the Rays tent (and we're ...

Baseball Today: Thursday, June 11
Projo Sox Blog — Journal photo / Gretchen Ertl LEAPIN' LIZARDS: For the longest time last night, it looked like a bull market for the Red Sox. Coco Crisp made a spectacular catch to end the fifth inning (above). Josh Beckett survived without his best stuff and, says Steven Krasner, turned in an ace-like performance without ace-like numbers. Manny Ramirez moved into sole posession of 22nd place on the all-time home-run list with No. 505, which, reports Joe McDonald, delighted Eddie Murray, the ex-teammate and friend he was tied with at 504. Krasner tells us Jacoby Ellsbury had a more-or-less successful return ...

The History of the Fist Bump
FanHouse — Filed under: Rays, AL East, MLB Video, Tampa Bay Hopefully this can help people understand the difference between a regular old fist bump and a terrorist fist jab, which went out of style in Tampa Bay the day Elijah Dukes was traded to the Nationals. Fun Devil Rays Video: The Fist Bump’s Evolution
Bugs & Cranks — Deadspin’s Will Leitch has declared our Tampa Bay Devil Rays “have instantly become the most fun franchise in baseball, on-field and off.” He also brings us the following video, entitled “The Evolution Of The Fist Bump,” which features interviews with D-Rays manager “Coach Joe” Maddon, and D-Ray superstars Carl Crawford, B.J. Upton and Jonny “Crazy Bitch” Gomes. It’s especially nice to see the old uniforms, and that the team was daring enough to use the word “Evolution” in the title. Mightn’t the E-word scare off the fans who are turned off by ...

The Evolution of the Fist Bump
Foul Balls — I'm incredibly grateful for the way that the fist bump has taken over as our preferred method of acknowledging the presence of others. Frankly, the pelvic thrusts that ruled the day before it made me uncomfortable. (Via Deadspin ...

The top 5 reasons why MLB should ban the hip bump
Big League Stew — ... While the rest of the baseball blogosphere goes ga-ga over this "Evolution of the Fist Bump" video, I think it's more important to band together and focus our efforts on ending the newest celebration fad. ...

[HI-FIVES ARE SO 20th CENTURY]
Rays Index — This video is a bit dated and comes via Deadspin. Quite frankly we are not sure why we never ran it (we blame DRG) as it has been sitting on the RAYSHEADS Facebook page for quite some time. But somebody put together a video in which they examine the history of the "Fist Bump". Several members of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays make appearances in the clip, including Stuart Sternberg, Joe Maddon, Jonny Gomes and Carl Crawford who claims he wouldn't be where he is today without the fist bump. Also, Papa ...

I Like Troy Percival A Little More Now
Tampa Bay Rays — Caught this video on Deadspin today.  Maybe the guys at DrunkJaysFans can give this Jays fan a lesson in heckling.  Percival did end up blowing the save and a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 9th, but Navarro hit a grand slam in extra innings to give the Rays the victory. Edit: If the video doesn’t work, I have no idea why.  Just go to the Deadspin link and watch. Also on Deadspin yesterday was this fantastic video of the origins of the fist bump.  Enjoy.

Fist Bump, Hip Bump, Post Bumped

Ok Lets Try This Again
Tampa Bay Rays — Earlier this week I tried to link some pretty funny Rays videos from YouTube, and being the idiot that I am, messed it up. So here they are again. First a Toronto fan trying to heckle Percival in the bullpen. Percy did end up blowing a 3-0, though Navarro saved the game with a grand slam in extra innings. Next is the evolution of the fist bump. I like Joe Maddon’s technique, too many people don’t wash their hands. Enjoy.

Friday Video Blowout
SimonOnSports — Everyone needs something to keep them occupied on Friday afternoons so the Friday Video Blowout was born. Spend your next few minutes, laughing, crying of laughter, pissing your self, whatever, but mostly wasting your companies time. ...

FOUND ITEMS: EVOLUTION OF THE FIST BUMP
ESPNtheMag.com - MagDaily — We were gonna do a 'Clip Reel' on the Tampa Bay Rays today, seeing as how they might enter the World Series tonight. Started poking around the Internet and discovered that most Rays videos are nosebleed-seat-camcorder-videos of dudes like Aubrey Huff hitting a single. Ugh. Then, we were gonna do a 'Clip' on Carl Crawford, probably the best player in Rays history. That was a little more interesting, sure; in investigating Crawford (side note: we once logged a game in Bristol where he went 5-for-5 and he became one of our favorite players automatically) we found this clip in which various Rays explain ...
