The Washington Redskins are a disaster on and off the field. The team’s condition has brought Hall of Famers John Riggins and Joe Theisman to exchange words. Since they’re in ‘Wait ’til next year’ mode the Skins have nothing left to do but quit on their coach and start sideline brawls.
The quitting on the coach is already in progress from management and player standpoints. The sideline fighting went into effect after LaRon Landry late hit Falcons QB Matt Ryan out-of-bounds. During the Atlanta Falcons/Washington Redskins game over the weekend, both teams got into a little tussle near the bench and Falcons head coach Mike Smith decided to take a swing near the direction of former Falcon DeAngelo Hall. Late in the second quarter, Matt Ryan attempted to run for a first down and was pushed out of bounds late by Laron Landry. Just for the record, I see nothing very much wrong with this reaction from Mike Smith. If he threw a punch, I'll retract and say he crossed the line. Otherwise, I not only accept his behavior, I strongly support it. Hell, I'll bet most fans wish their coaches would show that kind of venom in defense of their players. The Falcons are not all the way "there" yet, but they're a helluva lot closer and Smith deserves a lot of the credit. Notice the striking juxtraposition of the seemingly emotionless Jim Zorn. Poor 'Skins. ...

Watching the DeAngelo Hall scrum during the Falcons game with (what appears in retrospect as) their entire sideline, it did not cross my mind that the thing wrong here was a lack of Redskins uniforms, in large part because:

According to ESPN.com, Falcons’ head coach Mike Smith was fined $15,000 for his part in Sunday’s sideline ruckus with his players in Atlanta’s 31-17 win over the Redskins last Sunday. Washington players Albert Haynesworth ($7,500) and LaRon Landry ($5,000) were fined, but DeAngelo Hall wasn’t despite being right in the middle of the melee.

Smith was in the wrong. He should have never touched a player on the opposing team and he should have concentrated on getting his own players under control.
