And most people who feel confident enough with themselves will turn around, check out the crowd, and have a good time with their moment. Don't think for a second you'd be much different. And as for dropping it? Why is that shameful? Unfortunate, yes. Maybe even embarrassing. But he didn't look embarrassed, he looked like he was still having fun with the whole thing. Judging by the comments, none of you would have been that cool about it. Pathetic.

We've never been fortunate enough to grab a baseball at a game, but if we did, we suspect we'd jump around and act the fool for whatever camera happened to be within eye's reach. We'd be that excited. One thing you can guarantee, though, is that we'd hang onto the damned ball. Unlike this Red Sox fan at the Patriots Day game yesterday.
This guy embarrassed himself so thoroughly that he now has a site devoted to him, kind of. Whatever scorn this guy receives, he totally deserves.

I have never caught a foul ball at a MLB game, so I don't really know what it feels like to snag one. But it must feel pretty good, even if it was a ball hit by Milton Bradley.
But of course, if you're a total dumbass like this guy, you proceed to mug for the camera like a conquering hero: "All hail me! I caught a foul ball!".....only to drop the ball over the railing 15 seconds later.
Man, that sucks. Oh wait, he's a Red Sox fan? Then I mean that's AWESOME.

I just happen to believe that once you hit a certain age, it's no longer cool to wear your glove to the game, and it's hard to catch a screaming line drive with your bare hands. Here's about the best case of camera-hog karma that you're ever going to see. The situation: A fan at Fenway catches a foul ball and then does the prerequisite wave to the crowd before starting to bask in the cheers from those around him. No problems there, especially since there weren't any kids sitting around him that he could have given the ball to (a BLS requirement if you're a clearly grown male.)
However, let's see what happens when this guy overstays his welcome in the foul-catching spotlight about 10 Mississippis too long ...

This has gotta be one of the best “D’oh!” moments I’ve ever seen during a sporting event. Take note of the lesson this video provides: If you’re lucky enough to snag a foul ball at a baseball game, keep the celebrating to a minimum. If you get too rambunctious after making the grab, you could end up like this guy:
