Foul or No Foul? NBA Answers

The big topic of conversation over the course of yesterday was the Derek Fisher/Brent Barry play at the end of the Lakers-Spurs Game 4. The Spurs took the high road and said that there was no foul on the play and I listened to many experts yesterday speak on how the Spurs should not have been in that situation, Fishers shot hit the rim but the shot clock was not reset, etc. My question was and has always been in looking at the final play and that play alone, what that a foul? And for all the Lakers fans saying that it wasnt a ...

You all know that I’m a big Lakers fan. And yes, of course, I’m thrilled that the guys were able to escape San Antonio with a commanding 3-1 series lead over the defending champs. But, yeah, that was a terrible non-call on Brent Barry. Simply atrocious.
By now, you’ve seen the play a million and one times - the Spurs are down by two points; their season on the brink. Bones Barry gets the rock with two seconds remaining, pump fakes, and Derek Fisher lands on his left shoulder … No whistle.

The NBA Closer is written by Matt McHale, who can't wait to see how David Stern fixes tonight's Pistons-Celtics game in favor of Boston. When he's not coming up with new NBA Finals conspiracy theories, he can be found humming a jaunty tune at Basketbawful. Enjoy!
No soup call for you! The Spurs had plenty of culprits in last night's Game 4 loss to the Lakers. There was Tim Duncan, who missed 16 shots. And Manu Ginobili, who scored only 7 points (2-for-8) and was an Obi-Wan Kenobi-like ghost of his Game 3 self. There ...
Worst of the Night: May 27, 2008

Officiating: Quick quiz: What time is it? Quick answer: Zebra hunting time. Last night, Joe Crawfordy, Joe Forte, Mark Wunderlich and David Stern (in absentia) were The Four Horsemen of the Spurspocalypse. I mean, seriously, the no-call to end last night's game was completely, utterly and in all other ways inconceivable. I'm not even going to argue the point. The bottom line is this: Derek Fisher fouled Brent Barry. Marv Albert and Doug Collins knew it. Johnny Ludden knew it. Henry Abbott knew it. You knew it. I knew it. Nostradamus knew it way back in 1562. Helen ...
