Pens-Flyers Game Five Thoughts
Published 5/18/2008 by noreply@blogger.com (Sean) at Sean Leahy's Going Five Hole
Prince of Wales Conference Champions It's obvious today that Game Four was nothing but a blip on the radar screen of the Pittsburgh Penguins. THAT is how you finish a series and send a shot to whomever your Stanley Cup Finals opponent will be. Right from the start the Penguins were in the game and Ryan Malone's first goal early on really put the Flyers on their heels. I didn't see any sense of urgency in the Flyers today and once Marian Hossa made it 3-0 in the second period, Philadelphia just skated it out the rest of the way. Other Prince of Wales Conference Champion thoughts: -Marc-Andre Fleury is ...

Think Nicholson after the lobotomy in "Cuckoo's Nest," only without Chief Bromden ready to use a pillow on him. What happened to the confident, swaggering ‘Freek who picked the Flyers in six and soldiered on even when his mother interrupted his Web cam filming? "This will be my last hockey video. I'll be going back to my Eagles soon," he said. ...

Penguins advance to Stanley Cup Finals with 6-0 shutout over Flyers

How sweet it is !!! “Play Penguins hockey and this series is over”. That was the statement I made prior to both Game Five’s in the Rangers and Flyers series, and that’s exactly what the Pens did. The Penguins played another near-perfect game, combined with some fortunate breaks, and thumped the Flyers 6-0 today to win the Eastern Conference championship and a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals.
