This dunk could have been 100x cooler if the cupcake was catapulted off the rim and landed in Charles Barkley's mouth.

Gerald Green's Birthday Cake Dunk
Published 2/17/2008 by Brett Edwards at FanHouse
Filed under: Timberwolves, NBA Videos, NBA All-Star GameHere it is in all its glory: Gerald Green's Birthday Cake Dunk. This dunk is sure to become an instant classic, and why not? The creativity level was completely off the charts. I loved when Kenny Smith realized what Green was up to, and he starts yelling "He's gonna blow out the candle!!" To which Charles responded, "All he gonna do is make a mess." Hilarious stuff, and definitely one of the top highlights of the Dunk Contest, this year or any year. [via ...

Gerald Green’s Birthday Cake Dunk (Video & Picture)

This was one of the best dunks I’ve ever seen in the Slam Dunk event. Although Dwight Howard won the competition, I thought Gerald Green’s birthday cake dunk was the highlight of the competition. At first I thought the wind from his arm motion blew out the candle, but when the replays showed Green blow them out with his breath …. THAT was impressive. [shout out to Odenized for the vid] ...

2008 Slam Dunk Contest: Gerald Green’s BIRTHDAY CAKE DUNK! [Video]
Published 2/17/2008 by houroc at SportFiends
Gerald Green took second place in the Slam Dunk contest to Dwight Howard but that doesn’t mean that he wasn’t creative himself.  Even though I don’t know what he was thinking with his last dunk.  I mean I know it must’ve been difficult to dunk with only socks on but no one wants to see your sweat spots on your socks man. Either way, heres a video of his best dunk of the night.  He set up and cupcake and well, Ill let you watch the rest: Tags: slam, ...

02/17 Morning Minute: The Winner, and STILL Undefeated…

Ohio’s most underrated athlete? While I admit that I am not the biggest boxing fan in the world, or probably even on my street, I did find myself at a local establishment last night to watch Youngstown, Ohio’s own Kelly Pavlik attempt to repeat what was considered a major upset a few months back: Beat Jermain Taylor. A bit of a bandwagoner, I would not even have known the entire story about Pavlik had it not been for the trusty Internet as well as my friend Dave; both of which made last night’s fight very entertaining.Of course, it also helps when thousands of people at an event in Las Vegas are chanting the name of the guy you want to win. Many said ...

If Kobe Bryant Can Play, At Least You Can Watch
Published 2/17/2008 by Richard McPlenty at SPORTSbyBROOKS
The NBA All-Star game — unofficial motto: better than the Pro Bowl, worse than baseball’s All-Star game — tips off in a little more than an hour. There will probably not be any cupcake dunks, but there will be plenty of offense. Kobe Bryant is expected to play; otherwise, he would have to sit out the Lakers’ first game after the break ...

Superman Dunks!
Published 2/18/2008 by withmalice at With Malice...
The NBA All-Star weekend’s Dunk Competition finally became relevant again - largely due to Gerald Green’s birthday cake, and Dwight Howard’s Superman impression. Firstly, Green’s Birthday Cake dunk.  Green’s team-mate Rashard McCants put a cupcake with a candle up on the back of the rim, and… well, better ...

MW: All Star Weekend
Published 2/18/2008 by Brinson at Brahsome - Care To Get Nice?
Okay, I really have much more to say about the All Star game, including, but not limited to Dwight Howard’s arrival, Chris Paul continuing to be underrated, Deron Williams being the biggest snub of all, where the hell was Josh Smith all freaking weekend long, Jason Kapono is the Canadian ice man, among some other things. Instead, because I have a ton of work to do, I am going to pelter you with YouTubes from this weekend. But, if you are interested in reading, my colleague at FanHouse, Tom Ziller, has a spectacular column about what we can learn from All Star Weekend up right now, that you should absolutely check out. ...

10. Mario Chalmers’ miracle 3-pointer - Kansas was shooting horribly from the arc all night and found themselves down with only 10 seconds left in the game. Chalmers’ big shot sent the game into over time, where his team won of course. 9. D-Wade buys his mom a church - We all love to chat endlessly about sports drama and shine too much light on negativity, but this story with Dwayne Wade was the exact opposite. He bought his mom Jolinda her own church to celebrate her seventh year of sobriety and a remarkable turnaround of her life. ...
