The Top 20 Cub HR Of All Time - #15 Glenallen Hill 5/11/2000
Published 1/29/2008 by Al <al@bleedcubbieblue.com> at Bleed Cubbie Blue: Front Page Posts
This one still gets talked about, eight years later. Glenallen Hill, in the second inning on May 11, 2000, against the Brewers, slammed a Steve Woodard pitch onto the roof of the building at the corner of Waveland and Kenmore. Woodard was a pretty bad pitcher -- he gave up a Ruschesque 26 HR in 147.2 IP in 2000, and didn't even finish the year with the Brewers (he was traded to Cleveland in July). Still, that's pretty damn impressive. That building has been there almost as long as the ballpark, and that is, to my knowledge, the only time anyone has hit a ball that made the roof. (The ...

YouTube Randomness: Homer Lands on Wrigleyville Rooftop

Sure he was in the Mitchell Report, but that's still a fucking bomb of a homer. If steriods help you hit bombs like that, load up.

Why I’m Pro PED
Published 2/13/2008 by Voros at vorosmccracken.com
Glenallen Hill apologized today for PED use. Here’s some video evidence: My opinion is that if PEDs allowed him to do something like that, then I wan’t more PEDs. If they did not, then such an accomplishment doesn’t deserve to be seen as “tainted.” Either way I think a more rational discussion of the pros and cons of these substances needs to happen than what we’re currently getting.

Glenallen Hill better not be sorry for this HR
Published 2/15/2008 at Big League Stew
Lost in the Clemens drama on Wednesday was the news that former Cub masher Glenallen Hill apologized for his use of steroids during his career. Hopefully, though, he'll never apologize for the rooftop homer he hit  to Waveland Avenue on May 11, 2000, which still stands as one of the most outrageous blasts ever seen at Wrigley Field and was one of the only highlights in a dismal 65-97 season. If that home run means that steroids are wrong, well, Glenallen Hill (he's one of those guys where both names are always necessary) should never have wanted to be right. ...

Top Ten Chicago Athletes who Have Done or who We Suspect of Using Steroids
Published 2/20/2008 by Zach Martin at Top Ten Chicago Sports
With the Mitchell Report and all the controversy around Roger Clemens, I felt this was a necessary post. These are the guys who have or should come out of the steroid closet. 10. Jose Canseco “The King of Steroids” Canseco is one of the principle reasons for steroids becoming part of the baseball culture throughout the late 1980s and the 1990s. Playing on eight different teams in his Major League career, Canseco systematically spread steroids wherever he went. Canseco had your typical steroid induced career- lots of home runs, money and injuries. Continually, Canseco had his share of off the field incidences including ...

Glenallen Hills mammoth home run!
Published 5/30/2008 by Cool Papa Bill at Clubhouse Cancer
In honor of the Rockies’ coach, back at Wrigley for a four game set against the Cubs, we proudly present the longest home run in the history of man. Now that we think about it, Hill was probably ‘juicing’, too. Why wouldn’t he? He was an inconsistent power hitter, who needed to hit bombs like this to stay in the league. ...
