Friday Cat Attacks
Published 1/25/2008 by Sturminator at Bob's Blog - Live from Lewisville
We end our week with a fairly weak to quite weak collection of links, but then we save it with some youtube gold at the end… Amazing! Roger Federer will not be in the final of a major … Roger Federer's streak of 10 straight Grand Slam finals came to an abrupt end Friday when he lost to No. 3 Novak Djokovic 7-5, 6-3, 7-6 (5) in the Australian Open semifinals. The top-seeded Federer, who had been seeking his third consecutive title here, didn't look like the same player who has won 13 majors. The emotional Djokovic had a lot to do with that, hitting 13 aces and 50 winners, largely avoiding the ...

Good Sex In The Big East? Wait, What?
Published 1/25/2008 at FanIQ Blog
This is a day late, but not a dollar short. Card Chronicle informs us this well-wisher's name is Jim Spanarkel and that not too long ago he was calling the NCAA tourney for CBS. Now he's doing bottom tier ESPN Full Court Big East games and this may be the reason why.
Continued good sex in the Big East ...
The best part is in attempting to correct himself, he repeats his error. Or maybe it wasn't an error? Wouldn't would all like good sex in Big East? Jim may or may not have been distracted by the cheerleaders.
In Spanarkel's defense, it's not as bad ...
Interviewer Wishes Seton Hall Coach 'Continued Good Sex in the Big East'
Published 1/25/2008 by Michael David Smith at FanHouse
... one: It sounds like a typical post-game interview, as Gonzalez says about Seton Hall's fans, "The emotion, the energy, the buzz in the building, just spectacular, they were our sixth man, and it really was a special, special win for them." And then Jimmy says, "Congratulations. Continued good sex in the -- ugh, sex -- in the Big East." He was trying to say "success," but he never did quite manage to say it. Announcer: “Continued Good Sex In The Big East”
Published 1/25/2008 by Brooks at SPORTSbyBROOKS
Great find by Michael David Smith of Fanhouse today. Jim Spanarkel, the man we normally only see for those scintillating 1-vs-16 tournament tilts (hello Len Elmore!), has an amusing Freudian slip while interviewing Seton Hall coach Bobby Gonzalez recently:
For those without sound, Gonzales said, “The emotion, the energy, the buzz in the building, just spectacular, they were our sixth man, and it really was a special, special win for them.”
Spanarkel then, smooth as silk, closes with, “Congratulations. Continued good ...

Why end an interview wishing a coach “continued success” when you could instead wish him “continued good sex?” Jim Spanarkel messes up big time in an interview with Seton Hall coach Bobby Gonzalez.
Rudy Gay needs some help with this year’s dunk contest, as he’s asking for suggestions on what dunk to perform…cool idea by Rudy, might actually get me to watch this year’s contest (ever since the days of Vince Carter, the dunk contests have been lackluster):

College Basketball’s Worst Behind the Mic

About a week and a half ago, in case you missed the first installment , I ran down my list of the best on-air personalities in the college basketball world. One of the best things about your remote at home is that once all of the displays on it have been worn away from multiple caresses of your sweaty fingers, you still always know where that mute button is. It’s second nature to you. Thank goodness we’ve all developed such a sixth sense, because many of the men that follow require us all to silence the tube and cause us to provide our own soundtrack.
