Gus Johnson, Dancin' Queen
Published 4/2/2008 by Seth at Posting and Toasting: Front Page Posts
Via the indispensible Odenized, Gus Johnson does his best falsetto impersonation of everyone's favorite Swedish pop/dance quartet. Walt Frazier's blank expression throughout the whole performance is mystifying. Recap of another down-to-the-wire Knicks-Bucks tilt coming tomorrow.

Gus Johnson will also be singing One Shining Moment this year

... When you factor in the fact that we bloggers can, at times, be a little too cranky when it comes to their preferences in sports telecommunication, and you've got a truly battle-tested guy in Gus. So Gus can really announce, but did you know he can sing? During a Knicks game (yes, college ball fans, Gus does NBA games too) Gus' producers had a little fun with the man. Hilarity -- hilarity, I tell you! -- ensued. Anything to make the Knicks watchable, I guess. (Via Ballhype)

I Love You Gus, But Never Sing On Air Again

I don't know if Gus Johnson didn't think the cameras were rolling during pregame of the Knicks game last night or what, but we were treated to an impromptu concert by Gus Johnson. Cue the music! I understand that when ABBA comes on you just have to sing, but normally you just lip sync it my friend. The look on Walt Frazier's face is just priceless. Gus Johnson Dancing Queen Diva (Odenized)

Dancing Queen: Only Gus Johnson Can Make This Acceptable
Published 4/2/2008 at FanIQ Blog
After you get to call a weekend of Stephen Curry, I can imagine it making you quite giddy and spontaneously breaking into song. However, transferring that energy into a rendition of Dancing Queen is unacceptable ... unless you're Gus Johnson. Clyde Frazier's look says it all, doesn't it. We'll let this one slide, Gus, but let us catch you like this again. [Odenized]

GUS JOHNSON IS YOUNG AND SWEET, ONLY 17
Published 4/2/2008 at With Leather
Gus Johnson is largely considered the voice of the NCAA tournament (sorry, Bill Raftery), but he also works Knicks games with Clyde Frazier, as you can see in this clip from last night's Knicks-Bucks (ugh) "game."  And it's obvious that as the quality of the games go, so too does the level of Gus's work.  Exciting tourney games give you Johnson yelling himself hoarse; two atrocious NBA teams will get you ABBA's "Dancing Queen." I'll tell you this much: he's nowhere as good as I am.  In a poll I conducted in my bedroom, 100% of stuffed animals agree: I'm ...

Gus Johnson Loves Him Some ABBA
Published 4/2/2008 by Brett Edwards at FanHouse
Filed under: Knicks, Bucks, NBA Media Watch, NBA Videos It's always great to see anyone who thinks they're not on the air get embarrassed when they do something silly like this, and Gus Johnson seemed to get as good of a laugh about it as we all did. Clyde Frazier's reaction is priceless, but there is one thing about this clip that I don't understand. Someone was actually watching the Bucks play the Knicks? Apparently so.   Permalink | Email ...

The Sports Guy: Rockin' and chalkin' with The Links
Published 4/8/2008 by Bill Simmons, Page 2 columnist at ESPN Feed: Bill Simmons
Before we hit The Links, let me give you four thoughts about Monday night's Kansas-Memphis game: 1. In my Chris Webber column two weeks ago, I mentioned the 1986 World Series and the concept of Microcosm Losses, when a team blows a championship because its fatal flaw ends up rearing its ugly head at the worst possible time. Sure, the fans of that team can look back and say, "We blew that game; we should have won it," but a fatal flaw is fatal for a reason. With the '86 Sox, it was an unreliable bullpen. With Webber's 2002 Kings, it was their lack of a dominant player. With Memphis, it was lousy free-throw shooting. So you can't really be ...

We don't know how we missed this — we must have been too busy being fooled by April Fools Day jokes about Dennis Rodman — but look everybody: It's Gus Johnson singing ABBA's Dancing Queen.
