PJ Brown to Boston
CelticsBlog — I went on a pretty substantial road trip today and heard the news on the radio that PJ Brown is headed to Boston. I like the deal for several reasons: It is becoming increasingly apparent that Scot Pollard's contribution will be minimal. The Celtics got another big guy not named "Kevin Garnett", which will save KG from some of the physical play. Brown has playoff experience. He is not the type of guy that will demand the ball on offense. I vaguely recall him having a good midrange shot. And he definitely can rebound and defend. If Charlie Ward decided to show up and give anyone crap the Celtics have the answer: ...

Brown in Green
SLAM Online — by Russ Bengtson Chris Webber. Shaquille O’Neal. Ben Wallace. Kurt Thomas. The formula this year seems simple enough—if you’re a contender (or even a ‘contender’), you acquire an aging big man. The Boston Celtics, owners of the best record in the NBA, picked theirs up yesterday—38-year-old power forward P.J. Brown. If you can’t remember when he joined the League (it was a long time ago), you’ll need only look at his chest. Brown, a three-time All-Defensive second-team selection, will wear No. 93, the year he was drafted into the NBA and was married to his wife, Dee. ...

The Latest Dispatch from a Knicks Nation Refugee
The Serious Tip — Fool-la-la-la This is the song that we sing when someone says Isiah will be forgiven someday. Fool-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la Much has transpired since I last corresponded. I've been out west in some desert land. I've been north of Alaska. You know nothing of this if they ask ya. Over 1,000 days have past since I last set foot in Knicks Nation. For nearly three years, I have neither watch a game, nor rooted, nor cheered, nor concerned myself with the well-being of my favorite basketball team. Unfortunately however, what I have seen is many of my dear friends and Knicks Nation family be ...

Jolly Good Show: Boston 97, Cleveland 92
The Big Lead — We’ll get to LeBron and the Cavs in another post shortly. Let’s first give Boston its due. PJ F’in Brown. It doesn’t quite have the cache of Aaron F’in Boone, but the sentiment is there. Boston’s leading by one with time winding down on the shot clock late in the fourth quarter. The Big Three are choking their way to toward Game Seven infamy. Enter Collier Brown Jr., 38, a man known to basketball fans simply as PJ, or hired muscle, a guy who has played for five NBA teams, but none with distinction in six years.

End Of Season: Numbers And Words
WaitingForNextYear — Celtics Celebrating As the Cavaliers season has come to an end, there will be plenty of time for us to look ahead to next season and the potential changes that are coming in this offseason. For now, though, I want to look back on this series one last time. You can read my initial thoughts in my post-game recap here ...

Runnin' Fives: Miami Heat
CelticsBlog — A Daily Babble Production Picking All-Time Lineups for Each of the Association's 30 Franchises* The short-short version: Hardaway-Wade-Rice-Brown-Mourning mia.gif It's a banner day here at Runnin' Fives base camp as we head to South Beach to complete our trip through the NBA's 1988 expansion that began two weeks ago with the Hornets. In the Miami Heat, we find the NBA's currently youngest franchise to take home a championship, and we also find not one but our first two players to make appearances atop the depth charts of multiple franchises. They won 15 games both in their first and most recent seasons, but in between, the Heat put together six seasons of at least ...

Remembering Zo - Tribute to a Hardwood Hero
NBAMate — The Atlanta Hawks ended Miami’s season a few days ago, as well as ending the must-see theater that has been the Dwyane Wade Show of 2008-2009. But it also marked the end of an era for the Miami Heat, the final chapter in the story of Alonzo Mourning’s career. His number was retired by Miami earlier this season, and having recently read his new book titled ‘Resilience’, I felt it only fitting to write this tribute to Zo. Alonzo Mourning never got to play this season thanks to a knee injury he sustained the season before, an injury most thought would end his career. But that wasn’t the way Zo planned on going out, ...

PJ Brown May be Heading to Boston
celticsgreen.blogspot.com 2/27/2008 — The Globe is reporting that the Celtics could be close to signing PJ Brown. Brown, who was looking for the MLE before the season and had hinted about retiring has recently changed his mind and would like to finish the season out with a contender. Brown's agent, Mark Bartelstein, acknowledged it is "possible" that Brown could be a Celtic soon. The 38-year-old Brown, who has been courted to ...
