Dirk undoubtedly picked that up from his teammates, but the question is: does he know he's making fun of the mentally challenged on air? My guess is no, which makes it amazing.

At first glance, this interview with the injured Dirk Nowitzki during the recent Mavs-Clippers game seemed doomed to become a cringe-worthy portion of the evening’s broadcast. Dirk’s earpiece wasn’t working properly, and he was having trouble communicating with the announcers. Announcers are there to call the action in front of them, as far as I understand, so let's just stick to that. Interview guys during halftime or after the game. For years, I've told anyone who would listen -- mom, grandpa, the guy at the concierge desk -- that Dirk Nowitzki is, by far, the funniest player in the NBA. (Sorry, Shaq.) The video of Dirk squashing a bug at the '06 Finals is still comedy gold, as is the footage of him dancing to the Stones. You can just tell he's a naturally funny dude. Ok so since Dirk Nowitzki went down with an injury he’s had a lot of time on his hands. Apparently he’s tryin to get his Bryant Gumbel on by being an play by play guy. He sounds like a mixture between Bill Walton and David Hasselhoff. It might work for him though, I mean he’s already proven that he can’t lead a team to an NBA title so he’s gotta figure out something else to do to pay the bills.
