pauliedanger In all fairness, we did also boo Santa Claus and cheer when Michael Irvin went chin first into our hardass astroturf. -
EthanJaynes I did not hear the boos, but that is just me.
I really heard the boos when Bush threw out the first pitch this year. This was not as clear.

Ampsportsduo It's a shame they weren't playing the Maple Leafs so she could get more foreign relations experience.-

Flyers fans boo Sarah Palin
All Things Philly Sports —
Looks like Obama might win Pennsylvania. Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin dropped the puck at the Flyers home opener and got just the reaction everyone would expect from Flyers fans: boos! Yeah, there was a mix of cheering and booing, but from what I could hear, the crowd reacted much more negatively then positively. The Flyers arena was pumped full of music as she was being introduced, likely because they knew what kind of reaction she would get, and that helped to drown out the crowd's reaction. Here's a video of the whole ceremony: I still don't understand why the ...
Through Rain, Sleet, Snow Or Cheap Political Ploy, Philly Fans Always Deliver
Deuce of Davenport | Sports News, Commentary, Humor, Videos —
"America's #1 Hockey Mom" probably thought the kids would act as a shield. Fail. Gangsta. That's how Philly rolls.
Sarah Palin embraces the boo birds in Pittsburgh
The Sports Culture —
When people think hockey mom, they think of words like:
butch
rugged
unshaven
chewing tobacco.
Sarah Palin is neither of those, and maybe because of that, she wasn’t very well-received at the Penguins game. (Or maybe it’s the fact that she’s a dumb fuckhead VP candidate).
At least she didn’t pull a Chase Utley: “Boo? Fuck you.”
Sarah Palin Video - Booed at Hockey Game
Dejuiced! Sports News with No Boundaries —
Sarah Palin, the Republican Vice President nominee, got a loud welcome when she attended a Philadelphia Flyers hockey game. Loud is the good news. The bad news is that a lot of the crowd was booing her.
To make it worse, she went out onto the ice with her small daughter. Not sure whether Philadelphia was booing her, her daughter or both — but knowing Philadelphia has booed Santa Claus, we wouldn’t put anything past them.
No word whether Sarah Palin AKA the world’s most famous hockey mom will make a return trip to Philadelphia. Here is the Sarah Palin video of her getting booed at the Flyers game: ...
Blueshirts Survive Against Flyers
New York Rangers —
“Phew” That is probably the first thing many Rangers fans said as soon as this one ended.
After scoring 4 goals in the first, the Rangers barely hung on and defeated the Flyers 4-3 at the Wachovia Center on Saturday night.
With a racuous Philly crowd celebrating the teams season and home opener (and booing Sarah Palin, who dropped the ceremonial first puck) the Rangers didn’t let that phase them as they played their game early…
4:12 into the first, Nikolai Zherdev had a right place, right time rebound goal, with assists going to Aaron Voros and Dan Girardi. Pretty much a Power Play goal (the penalty ended :1 ...
Well, that was unexpected
Five Tool Tool - The Sports Blog That Loves You Back —
Philly Fan, doing what they best... Oh, and kudos for this moment of great character. The GOP Vice-Presidential nominee said at an earlier fundraiser that she would stop some of the booing from the rowdy Philadelphia fans by putting her seven year old daughter, Piper in a Flyers jersey. She said, "How dare they boo Piper!"Um, lady? We dare. Now, back to the ash heap of history with you, please... ...

Sarah Palin Booed At Flyers Game
Philly Sports Net —
Sarah Palin Booed At Flyers Game Sarah Palin Booed at Flyers Game In my view, after this stunt, Philadelphia fans should run Ed Snider out of town. Not only did he inject politics into sports by inviting Sarah Palin to drop the puck at the Flyers-Rangers game, but he also choreographed a “face save” for her by having the music in the Wachovia Center turned up as the fans let out a massive round of boos. This is obnoxious. Snider pushes his politics on the Flyers fans, full well knowing that the Philadelphia area is overwhelmingly in favor of Obama. But then, he tries to take away the fans voice - The Great Boo. Screw Snider. ...

“Hockey Mom” Palin Plus Philly Fans Don’t Mix

Philly Fans Boo Palin
The Slanch Report —
Sarah Palin was given the honor of dropping the first puck for the Philadelphia Flyers’ new season, of course, this being Philly, city that booed Santa Claus, she was greeted with a hearty helping of boos. So much so that the arena was forced to keep raising the volume of the music in order to try and drown them out. Fortunately, Philly fans can ...
Sarah Palin Booed By Philadelphia Flyers Fans During Opening Puck Dropping Ceremony
FanIQ Blog —
I've said this before, and I'll say it again, politics and sports just don't mix. Last night, as I'm sure many of you know, Sarah Palin dropped the opening puck in Philadelphia for the Flyers v. Rangers game. And if you're wondering why Palin was dropping the puck in Philly - a place that she has no connections to whatsoever - it's because Flyers owner Ed Snider is a big MCain supporter, not because Palin is "America's most famous hockey mom."
The Times hockey blog said the boos were "resounding" and one paper said it was "an ...
Not Really Surprising
The Big Lead —
A partial list of things Philadelphia fans booed yesterday: A small child; a dolphin; an episode of Grey’s Anatomy; Ashton Kutcher’s Coolpix; an empty garbage can; pair of stonewashed jeans; a flat tire; February; a DVD copy of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze; the sunset; and Sarah Palin.

In an apparent effort to solidify Sarah Palin's "hockey cred" Flyers owner Ed Snider (a McCain campaign supporter/contributor and fan of the Iraq war) invited America's most famous "hockey mom" to drop the puck at the Flyers vs Rangers game last night.
Not surprisingly, hockey is also playing a ...
Sarah Palin Gets Booed in Philly; Joins Santa Claus in Exclusive Club
Sports Bastards —
Well, I'm completely unsurprised. Jesus could've dropped that first puck and someone still would've chucked a battery at his head in Philly. Philadelphia hates everyone, especially Donovan McNabb.

MOUTHPIECE Blog // A Chicago-Addled Sports Blog —
I know nothing about Philadelphia, except that T.J. Simers has made it a sympathetic place in my eyes, and that a really funny TV show that almost went the way of “Arrested Development” is based there, and that said TV show thankfully has about 50 more episodes to go before it canceled. In your effing face, Batemen.
But this video might have kindled my love for the city forever:
I love that the stadium people were not only ready to react to potential boos with music, they were so confident the boos would happen they went ahead and blared the volume beforehand. ...
Sarah Palin gets a taste of the Philadelphia sports fan.

Vice Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, didn't quite receive the reception that she was looking for when she went out on the ice to drop the first puck at the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Ranger game. Once again proving that Philadelphia sports fans are one tough bunch. ...
I Can See Russia From Philadelphia
Double Extra Point —
I remember one time being at Lincoln Financial Field for an Eagles vs. Packers game. At halftime, a 10 year old boy from the Special Olympics attempted a field goal from the 3 yard line for $10,000 for his YMCA club and was booed before he even kicked it. After he missed, the place erupted in laughter and profanities about his gender and handicap that I'll spare you with here. The question is how does Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin with an IQ equal to or lesser than that 10 year old kid think she will get treated any differently at a Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers game? (turn up the volume to appreciate the boos for (ahem) America's #1 Hockey ...

Todd Palin Headed to Martinsville Speedway, Continues Republican NASCAR Swing
FanHouse —
Filed under: NASCAR Gossip, NASCAR Tracks, Sprint CupRepublican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin's first man husband will take his turn on the GOP's swing of NASCAR races with less than three weeks remaining in the presidential election. The Alaskan governor's husband, Todd Palin, will serve as an "honorary race official" for Sunday's Sprint Cup race at Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, Va. Now I doubt hubby Todd will find himself checking for missing lugnuts or counting the number of crew members over the wall during a pit stop, but I'll imagine he'll get the same ...

Islanders fans prepare protest in support of new arena
Puck Daddy —
We've seen the "Orange Crush" in Philadelphia, the "C of Red" in Calgary, "Rock the Red" in Washington and the failed "Black out" in Los Angeles. The origin of these color movements, the "white-out", started back in Winnipeg in the late 1980's during playoff games. The "all-for-one" color schemes have typically been used during the postseason to support the team in their quest for the Stanley Cup. Never has it been done to bring attention for a team's need for a new arena. The dominant story with the New York Islanders off the ice the past few ...

The Sixty Feet, Six Inches Guide For Choosing an NHL Team, For The Non-NHL Fan: 2009-10 Edition
Sixty Feet, Six Inches —
So that wonderful time of the year is upon us again. Hockey once again returns and gives my life meaning...well meaning since my favorite MLB team eliminated themselves from playoff contention. This post is for two groups of people: 1) People just coming around to the NHL/hockey this year. 2) NHL fans that will treat all of this as one gigantic inside joke. Yet I don't really need to address group #2 in this post, so #1, this is all directed at you. Now maybe the fantastic Stanley Cup Playoffs last year sparked an interest in the game, or perhaps you just decided was a great time to start liking hockey. Regardless of how ...
